• In 2008, under the auspices of Ministry of Justice, Crime Victims' Assistance Network was created. Crime Victims’ Assistance Center came into being in every county. The centers became the places where the victims could get cost free legal and psychological advice and support. Centers were conducted by local Non-Governmental Organizations, because NGOs had experience in supporting victims of the crime, fully qualified personnel and unquestionable reputation. Functioning of Crime Victims' Assistance Network was possible thanks to national resources and Prevention of and Fight against Crime Programme from European
Commission
BABA led the Centre
in Zielona Góra and in 3 cities
Located in lubuskie county.
Origin of Crime Victims and Post-penitentiary Assistance Fund in 2012 enable continuation of help for victims of the crime. Financial penalties paid by convicted people (based on legally valid sentence) - called penalty assessment - were credited to account of the institution chosen by the judge. Since 2013 penalty assessments have been credited to account of Crime Victims and Post-penitentiary Assistance Fund and Ministry of Justice, as the administer, divides the money between Crime Victims’ Assistance Centers for their activities, based on the results of the official competition.
• Crime Victims Assistance Network was
extended by another organization, so
that help was getting to the needy throughout
the country. Baba continues to resort
in Zielona Gora and 11 towns in the region of
Lubuskie county.
• Legal and psychological support have been enriched by psychoterapy and the help of qualified first contact person.
• Victims of crime can, thanks to the help easier access track procedure, have full insight into their situation at every stage of the proceedings.
• For those who want to remain anonymous we offer advice provided by e-mail. For legal questions our volunteer lawyer has been corresponding for 13 years.
• Job seekers can benefit from the guidance counselor - 2 volunteers
• For those in need of long-term we support the proposal to participate in a support group conducted
by a therapist - as a volunteer
A significant change to the previous model of aid - is
material assistance.
The specificity of domestic violence – material dependence of the victim from the offender requires more than psychological and legal support.
That's why most financial help goes
to victims of domestic violence.
Financial support includes:
- subsidies for rent or financing of temporary shelter,
- vouchers for the purchase of food and clothing, footwear and household cleaning and personal hygiene,
- costs of forensic examination and medical
- covering the cost of education (including textbooks), - financing cost of trips to our Association
The basic conditions of the aid are:- Crime victimization
- Created scarcity and the need must be the result of the crime
