MAGAZINE TITLES AND LOGOS
CRITERIA
For my magazine, I set myself some criteria so that I could make a decent name. Below are the points that I wanted to included for my Magazines title.
• It has to be music-related. I want a name that has connotations of music and sound.
• • It has to be short and simple so that when people quote it, they
don’t spend too long telling the name of the magazine.
• The name has to roll off the tongue and be easy to say.
• It has to look good on the shelf, if a magazine has a bad name, it wont be bought.
• Here are just some musical terms. I would have chosen one of these names however they all have connotations of classical music or music from the opera.
• A cappella • Duet • Encore• Harmony• Key• Maestro• Opus
MUSICAL TERMS
Instead of using an actual musical term, I decided to use a different name but it still had to be related to music. I turned my search on to devices. I decided that naming my magazine after the part of a musical instrument or device would sound better.

PARTS OF MUSICAL DEVICES AND INSTRUMENTS
In the end, I chose the name “Switch” as it fits all of the criteria I set myself.
I chose it as it is quick and easy to say.
It also has connotations of music and sound.
It also appeals to a younger generation as it sounds nice to say.
The only issue with this is that there used to be a BBC programme called Switch but the target audience was and
is the same for my audience.
SWITCH
POSSIBILITIES
This possibility is edgy and unique and appears as if it has been stamped on the page. This could stand out against a background which would catch the readers eye. This possibility seems a bit too bold. It looks quite angry and menacing and this would not attract readers. It also makes the word seem really. People would not choose this as it doesn’t have the right connotations or denotations.
POSSIBILITIES
This possibility is too posh for my target audience. It would not appeal to students as it has Serifs on the ends of words. This suggests a level of education is needed. This possibility has connotations of science and my magazine is about music.
Yet again, I find this image has connotations of high class. Although, my readers may be high class, they are not my target audience.
FINAL LOGO
I chose this one as it appeals more to my audience. It has connotations of being edgy and fresh and that really captures the kind of audience I’d like to attract.
