In her paintings Maya Gorova touches gently and with love in the heart of the Bulgarianness. Each object in the still life paintings is there with piety toits existence. The objects of that cherished rural lifestyle, in which only our grandparentsremained, becomes alive with spiritual energy as if from another world. A world that is leavingwith the purity of our souls, with the laughter of our carelessness, with the dictates of the beauty that now we only dream of.

To try the Granny's soup in a wooden bowl, to sit by the fire and to smell the just-baked holiday round bread, to lie down in the cool,whitewashed room and the wind to inflate the embroidered, thincurtains – we’ve lost all that and there’s no return except for the ones.

What remains to us is the skill of the artist, which will send in the eternity all that is cherished by the spirit of the Bulgarian.
