Click on the Class of 2024 registration tab on the left. This is your registration form.

Chiawana High School’s Graduation

Requirements for the Class of 2024

Earn a minimum of twenty-four (24) credits

English 4 credits

Mathematics 3 credits

Science 3 credits

Health (.5) & Fitness (1.5) 2 credits

Social Studies 3 credits

Occupational Education 0.5 credit

Financial Literature 0.5 credit

Fine Arts (or 1 cr. Fine Art & 1 cr. Personalized Pathway) 2 credits

Foreign Language or Personalized Pathway 2 credits

Elective Courses 4 credits

Total 24 credits

English 4 creditsMath 3 credits (+Sr. year math-based class)

Science 2 credits (3 for some colleges)

Social Studies 3 creditsWorld Language 2 credits Fine Arts 1 credit

NCAA Clearinghouse

Students who want to participate in a College sport need to be certified through the NCAA clearing house. To become eligible students need 16 core* high school courses. Students should be working with their counselor for further NCAA clearing house eligibility information.

*core = Math, English, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language

College Admissions Requirements

All students should enroll in at least 5 classes each trimester.

This totals 15 classes you will get to pick plus a handful of

Alternatives. Most students will take:

1. English 2 tris

2. Math 2 or 3 tris

3. Science 2 tris

4. PE / Technology Literacy / some Art

5. Electives (either year-long elective or trimester long electives)

When choosing classes:- look at guidebook to see if the class is open to 9th graders.

- take note if the class is a year-long class or only 1 trimester long – you need to

choose 3 different classes if they are only a trimester long class.

- You can take 0 hour classes or 7th hour classes if offered.

- Students scoring low on the SBAC or STAR assessments will be automatically

placed in an intervention English class in order to further develop skills.

Freshman Year Courses

ENGLISH

• Literacy intervention classes are designed to enhance your student’s success in reading, writing, speaking and listening. Participation will help them throughout their high school career!

• Students are identified in the spring for intervention based on their performance on a variety of assessments

• STAR, SBA ELA, ELPA 21

• Enrollment in this program is for students who are performing below grade level standard on these assessments

• Literacy Intervention classes would show up on your student’s schedule as Read 180 or English 3D

• Visit the Literacy Intervention table in the student mall with questions

The number of elective classes you will be scheduled into is based on whether or not you are given an extra class for English or Math. Which is determined by your test scores and grades at Middle School.

Make sure you fill in alternative electives on your registration sheet!!

Pay attention to whether the elective class is a year-long class or trimester long. Remember you need 5 classes each trimester totally 15 for the year!

After you have read,selected and written down all 15 classes and some alternates

then go to your PowerSchool App and log in:

Click on each Pencil to add requests for each subject you want to take next year.

Continue to click thru the subjects and choose your requests for next year and add alternates

Must be 7.5 to 9 total classes.

Alternates and completion:WE need you to choose a few classes that could be taken if a course you want is full.

If you want ASL but would be willing to take French then mark French as an alternate.

If you want Intro to Marketing but would be willing to take Drama instead, mark Drama as an alternate.

After you have clicked on each subject then make sure the required hours at the bottom of the screen equal 7.5 to 9.
