Definition of sketchnoting

Sketchnoting is a style of visual note-taking and note-sharing that is used to add interest and metal effort to codified information and its communication.

For students sketchnoting can work note-taking technique and for teachers a teaching journal.

Sketchnote as teaching aid

Sketcknotes can be used as a teaching aid. A sketchnote has to be comprehensive

reference for developing content around it. An instructor, as a classroom practitioner,

needs to capture his or her relevant information and thoughts on a given topic as a sketchnote to be converted into a slide, chart or chalkboard illustration for classroom interaction.

The cyclic process of creating and improving sketchnotes

Materials required

Fine-tip sketch pen or bolder gel pen

A4 size sheets or sketch book

Correcting fluid or whitener A clip board

Sketching skills to be mastered as readiness phase

Sketching of some common objects as simple line and shape drawings

Sketching of containers, banners or boxes of information

Basic shapes like star, spiral, swirl, rectangle, triangle, circle

Sketching of arrows Writing words in wavy, zig-zag, rising or droping

fashion, double-lining words, writing sideways, writing along loops

Suggestive strokes around the words. Using hand-drawn graphic aids
