Green House Gas Emissions Comparison 4-stroke Diesel Engine vs. Dual-Fuel Engine
Unburned gas (“methane slip”) contributes to greenhouse gas emissions
with a global warming potential of GWP=25 at a 100 years time horizon.
Based on GWP=25 consideration, a gas burning dual-fuel engine performs
still better than a diesel engine in the medium und upper load ranges.

ME-GI Results
Methane slip & GWP
Methane slip & GWP:
2-stroke ME-GI engines
0.2 g/kWh
25-100% load
GWP reduced by approx. 20% for ME-GI
Global-warming potential (GWP) is a relative measure of how much heat a greenhouse gas traps in the atmosphere. It compares the amount of heat trapped by a certain mass of the gas in question to the amount of heat trapped by a similar mass of carbon dioxide. GWP is expressed as a factor of carbon dioxide (whose GWP is standardized to 1). GWP for methane is 72 for a 20 year interval and 25 for a 100 year interval.
