A CONFERENCE ORGANIZED IN HONOR OF THE 116TH
birth anniversary of Param Sant Kirpal Singh Ji
Maharaj was held February 5 - 7. Speeches by religious and
political leaders, as well as songs, poems, and anecdotal
stories by guests, helped illustrate the love and grace of
this great spiritual Master.
H. H. Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj addressed the
audience each day. During the seminar on February 7,
Maharaj Ji explained that spirituality is essentially a path
of experiencing our underlying unity with the entire
creation. While more than 99% of human genes are the
same, we pay little attention to what is common in all of
us and foolishly concern ourselves with outer trivialities.

ON THE SPIRITUAL PRACTICES: Meditation is not a dry set of physical steps, such as sit down, close your eyes, and look within; meditation is an act of love. It is the dance of love between the soul and godly love within us. —Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj
In February and March, H. H. Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj held discourses, meditation sittings, and question and answer sessions at Kirpal Bagh, Delhi. Some topics from those sessions are featured here.
MAHARAJ JI TOLD THE AUDIENCE
that while most of us thank God for
the countless gifts in our lives, we
nonetheless remain obsessed with the
things we don’t have. We never realize
that what we have and what we lack
are both for our highest good and in
accordance with our past karma.
Someone asked why one may be
experiencing adversity despite being
a good person. Sant Rajinder Singh
Ji Maharaj said that we are unaware of our karmas, and therefore we cannot know whether a particular
circumstance is the result of our actions in the present or a past life. We should strive to do the best we can
and leave everything else in God’s all-knowing hands.
People should be treated with love and kindness, he said, no matter how they may behave toward us.
Eventually our kindheartedness will prevail and pave the way to friendship and respect.
Maharaj Ji urged everyone to develop unwavering faith in God and face problems with courage and a firm
belief that whatever happens is for our very best. Instead of being discouraged by difficulties, we must strive
to turn challenges to our advantage with the grace of God. Explaining the term “soulergy,” coined by Sant
Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj, he said this refers to the innate energy of our soul. Being a part of God, the soul is
imbued with all of God’s divine attributes and shines with immense Light when seen in its pristine form.
When asked about the momentary flashes of Light we may see during meditation, Maharaj Ji explained
that God’s divine Light is ever-present within us. When our concentration develops, we are able to see that
Light; but as soon as the thought that we are seeing Light comes to our mind, our concentration wavers
and we are no longer able to see it.
Discoursing on a beautiful verse by Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj, the Master said that love beautifies
everything. To be in love implies happiness and joy, and being in love with God should automatically keep
us in a happy and joyous state.

Wedding Celebrations
February 27 - March 6
THE FESTIVAL OF HOLI, observed in India on March 1, was celebrated
February 28 at Kirpal Ashram for the benefit of wedding guests.
H. H. Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj and his family participated in the
fun activities, during which paint powder is thrown on white clothes.
Maharaj Ji spoke on the significance of the event, saying, “Good
always wins over evil.” He added that God is within each of us and is the
Source of all creation just as white is the source of all colors.
Because Rimjhim Duggal was born into a Sikh family, many of the
ceremonies were unique to that faith. A 48-hour reading of the Sikh scrip-
tures began on February 25 at Kirpal Ashram and ended with the Bhog
ceremony two days later. The Sagan, Chunni, and ring ceremonies took place
on March 1. During these events, the bride and groom
were welcomed into each other’s families.
At the Mehndi ceremony, artists drew intricate designs
with henna on the hands and feet of the bride, and on all
female guests who wished to wear the beautiful patterns
that would last for many days. Dancing and singing added
to the festivities.
During the wedding ceremony Maharaj Ji gave one end of a
scarf to Rimjhim and the other end to Arjan. Arjan then led Rim-
jhim around the holy scriptures four times while spiritual hymns
were sung, representing the marriage of the soul to the Almighty. Each circuit
around the scriptures represented a different spiritual precept: karma, the dharma
or faith, the trust that grows out of practicing one’s faith, and the blessings of God.

Darshan Singh Ji Dham for the wedding ceremony, held in an open air
gurdwara. Fountains, floral displays, and a decorated two-story stage with
winding staircases and balconies (above) added to the atmosphere on the
grounds. The wedding ended with a prayer seeking God’s blessings, after
which the families and wedding party moved to the top balcony of the
stage. Banquet stations offered delicious food, and beautiful music perme-
ated the night. The next evening, a reception was held at the LaLit Hotel in
New Delhi, bringing the wonderful events to a close.
