Echo Focus Session (Concurrent)Friday, September 28 – Saturday, September 29, 2012
Intended AudienceThis course is intended for cardiologists, cardiovascular fellows and general internists.
Echo Focus Session DescriptionThe Focus Session on Echocardiography is a full day and a half session running partially concurrent with the Mayo Cardiovascular Board Review Course for Cardiology Boards and Recertification. The session is geared towards cardiology fellows and practicing cardiologists with basic knowledge of Echocardiography. The session will be entirely based on echocardiography cases and cover the following areas: doppler hemodynamics, evaluation of systolic and diastolic function, coronary artery disease, valvular heart diseases, cardiomyopathies, pericardial disease, cardiac conditions due to systemic diseases, echocardiography in heart failure, transesophageal echocardiography, tissue Doppler and strain imaging and evaluation of mechanical dyssynchrony for CRT. Use of echocardiography in clinical patient management will be emphasized.
Echo Focus Session ObjectivesAt the conclusion of this session, the participants should be able to:
• Utilize Echo and Doppler information for management of patients with various cardiovascular conditions.
• Identify new echocardiographic modalities for clinical use such as tissue Doppler and strain imaging.
• Recognize common and unusual cardiovascular conditions confidently by echocardiography.
Echo Focus Session Registration FeeFor participants also attending the Cardiovascular Review Course for Cardiology Boards and Recertification, the Focus Session tuition is $99.
