middle of it’s put a red egg. On the Easter table we usually have Kozunak,

kifla, lamb and oddments.

Easter

On St. George day traditionally is butched lamb. From it’s meet is made traditional Bulgarian meal- Kurban. On the table there are ritual bread, fresh

milk, cheese and fresh garlic. The atmosphere is full of joy and happiness

and people dance horo.

St. George

St. Nicholas Bulgarians worship St. Nicholas as

the guardian of fishermen and sailors. On that day must be cooked fish, preferably carp. There must be on the table various of ritual breads and many vegetarian dishes-boiled corn, wheat, vegetable leaves, peppers, beans.

Christmas Eve dinner is solemn and vegetarian, there shouldn't be any

meet or dairy product. Meals should be an odd number-5, 7, 9 etc. - boiled beans, stuffed peppers, wheat, dried fruit, garlic, honey, nuts, fruits, ritual

bread and others. Dinner is not cleared away until the morning.

Christmas Eve

One of the Christmas Eve costumes is related with the ritual bread. It’s put in it a small coin. When the family starts eating the oldest man breaks the bread over his head and gives away small pieces of bread to the family and who get the coin is going

to be lucky.

Christmas Eve

New year The night before it (31th December ) family and friend gather around the table
