We chose the title ‘White City’ it is the ‘nickname’ for the council estate we have chosen as the location for

most of our film. Most of the action and drama will take place here.

Our film deals with a young girl, growing up on a council estate, who dreams of a bigger and

better life for herself.

Life at home is pretty rough; her mother is an alcoholic so she is left to look after her younger

siblings.

She’s unpopular at school, and seeks comfort from her older friend who also lives on the

estate.

The cast is made up of characters of all ages and genders: •A thirty year old mother•A young teenager – 13/14•An older teenager – 17/18•A group of youths – 11-14•A younger sister – 8•A little brother – 3

This is the location we will

be using to shoot our film. It

is an estate in Water Orton. The house on

the right belongs to the central character and

her family

Other characters in the scene will be scene on the road leading up

to the house and a group of

children will be scene on the

roundabout at the end of the

road

We have took inspiration from films such as ‘Fish Tank’ using ideas such as conflict between parents and children and using a similar location.

We have also taken some inspiration from ‘Bullet Boy’ using the film’s themes of family, and later on the film would also deal with issues of crime and gang culture.

Our film’s USP is the location. Many British Realism films are set in London, however ours is set in Birmingham.
