Ireland’s Ancient East and LakelandsIreland’s Ancient East will offer visitors a personal experience of 5,000 years of history through a relaxing journey of discovery in the beautiful landscape that attracted warring settlers for millennia and illuminated by stories from the best storytellers in the world – the local people. The Lakelands and Inland Waterways forms the foundation on which we will – in partnership with Waterways Ireland and the Local Authorities – develop and promote the Lakelands region from Lough Derg up to Enniskillen via Athlone.
