SONGBOOK ALERT! Some of our songbooks have become stowaways! Please check your bags from your walk to see
if any songbooks have hidden in among your agape, talk notes and letters. On each walk the con-
ference room lends out songbooks to all the participants. Over the last few years, books have
been stowing away a few at a time. So many are missing that there will not be enough when we
have a full walk! The book police are knocking at our door, asking us where they are. HELP! If
you find any songbooks, please give them to any board member, who will return them to us.
Thanks so much. DeColores! Char & Jeff Smith – Supplies Chairmen

AGAPE
The Men’s Walk #48 team is starting their teamings. The Women’s team is almost complete. The deadline for the
Men’s walk is rapidly approaching. We need to pray for the teams as they prepare for the new Pilgrims. Who will you
be sponsoring to go on this set of walks? Start working on agape for the walk. For those who supply agape for the
walk please identify what individual or gathering supplies it. This will make it easier to return extras. Again, pray for
the teams as they prepare to lead their pilgrims on their three day journey. Pray without ceasing!
72 Hour Prayer Vigil
The prayer vigil is on line

This is our third year as Agape Chairs so we must step down. We are still seeking an individual or individuals to serve
as Agape Chairs. If you are interested in being Agape as Agape Chairs please contact us. Or if you have any questions
please feel free to contact us also.
If you are willing to take on the task of Agape Chair/s Nancy and I will be willing to show you the ropes on this set of
walks and work with you on the first set of walks in 2015.

We are very excited, after an absence of several
years to be back on the Emmaus board and serving the Em-
maus Community.
Our responsibility is to identify the churches that
will be used for the walks each year and also to coordinate
the “outside team” that helps out over the weekend of the
walk(s).
The spring walk this year is at Clarence UMC which
is located at 10205 Greiner Road in Clarence. The men’s
walk is March 5th through the 8th and the women’s walk is
April 16th through the 19th. If you are not “on team” and
feel called to help, your assistance during either or both of
the walks would be greatly appreciated.
Please contact either of us at:

Thank you very much!!

Yee Haw! It's Time For A
Clown Round-Up!
It turns out they were right. They said it was
impossible to herd kittens. I am here to say it's true. So,
I've decided to round-up clowns instead.
That's right. If you are interested in Clowning
for Chrysalis, it's time to act. We will be putting to-
gether the clowns that will serve for the summer flights
very soon and are looking for new noses to bump and
new shoes to inflate.
This is an opportunity to express God's love in a
very powerful way. It's also a lot of fun at times. Now, if
you have an idea to get involved, please contact me. We
are hoping to have a clown alley at the next Rush (prior
to Candlelight at the Men's Walk) or another conven-
ient location.

Exciting news & opportunities for Western New York Walk to Emmaus.
Due to their love & growth thru their Walk to Emmaus experience and much prayer, Judy and Vern Heiler
have made a very special gift to the Western New York Emmaus Community, and the Board of Directors
has been blessed in accepting this gift in the honor of Vern Heiler. This gift is to be implemented over the
next five years, at the amount $2,000 per year. This gift of $10,000 is a blessing, and will help support areas
of The Walk to Emmaus that are special to Vern & Judy Heiler. The goal of this gift is divided into three key
areas:
The first is scholarship funding to support sponsorship for Clergy & up to 3 lay leaders from a new
church location, to attend a Walk to Emmaus weekend. This scholarship is also open to any per-
son sponsoring people in a current church with none, or very few Emmaus folks. The hopes are
to invite pastors & church leaders to experience The Walk to Emmaus, and then these leaders
will share the Emmaus experience in their church body.
The second area is to support WNY Walk to Emmaus music ministry. Currently the Board of Direc-
tors are looking into honoring Vern’s wish by purchasing a computer & portable projection sys-
tem. This system will be available to be used in the Conference room & in the sanctuary to en-
hance & expand our worship thru music.
The third area is to support Leadership training. Judy & Vern have been very excited to witness &
share in ideas that have come from the Emmaus training events WNY has experienced. From
local to International training, WNY has been very blessed by these opportunities. There are
many opportunities for our local leaders to learn and gather ideas from these many leadership
training opportunities.
The Board of Directors are very excited to pray & work hard to implement the goals of this gift in
Honor of Vern. Please join us in pray & help us also to use this new Church Scholarship to the Glory
of God. DeColores, Jim & Lora Keiper
BRRRRR! Is anyone else ready for Spring?!?! Thank
God for the fire of the Holy Spirit that warms our
hearts and our souls on these long, cold Winter
days and nights! As January crawls toward February,
our thoughts turn to that spring thaw, and with it
comes preparation for our Spring Walks. Keep
your calendars clear for the Men’s weekend, March
5-8, and the Women’s Walk on April 16-19, fol-
lowed the very next weekend by the Reunion on
the 25 th, from 9 until 2. All events will be held at the
Clarence UMC on 10205 Greiner Rd, in Clarence
(of course!). It has hosted the Walks multiple times
in the past and has proven to be a great location for
Team and Community alike. Come on out and join
in the fun and fellowship! See you there!

5 Ways to Strengthen Our Emmaus/Chrysalis Community in 2015…
Happy New Year! As we journey together this year, I wish to share with you helpful information, which I hope will help us str engthen our rela-tionship with God and with each other. These are suggestions based from the Emmaus/Chrysalis International Office.
We CAN Grow a Culture of Giving
A strong community helps other grow. One way to accomplish this is for us to contribute to the Walk to Emmaus, either locally or worldwide through our financial support. Our donations can assist with scholarships, leadership training, program resources and so much more. Feel free to call me to discuss current areas of need.
We CAN Share our Love
We should invite Pilgrims, Butterflies and fellow Community members to continue their Walk by staying in contact, attending gatherings or attending a grouping of local friends.
We CAN be Servant Leaders
We should consider how to participate in leadership roles, either as a member of the Board of Directors, a Gathering Leader, as part of the prayer chain or through other opportunities. If you are not sure where the need is, please call me.
We CAN Check In with Pilgrims and Butterflies
We should not take Sponsorship lightly. Please pray about who to sponsor and check in with past pilgrims or butterflies. We should pray for them. We should encourage them to continue devotional practices that strengthen their relationship with Christ.
We CAN share our Fourth Day Story
We are all the hands and feet of Christ for everyone we encounter each day. How are we making a difference in our world? We need to tell someone about it. I believe we can all learn from the gifts we offer to another.
Above all, pray for one another. Pray for pilgrims and butterflies to come this year. As we pray, God will indeed bless us all. Believe!

From the Kitchen…..
Walk #48 in Clarence is coming soon, and plans for kitchen coordination have already started.
I am looking for volunteers for co-chair positions on the following tasks for the Men’s walk #48 March 5th-9th:
Snack Table coordinator (Friday , Saturday, Sunday)
Primary Responsibility: Work with kitchen on periodic snack table updates throughout the weekend. Snack table
coordinator will need to understand the dietary needs of the weekend attendees, and be available when
needed throughout the entire weekend. Arrival on Thursday evening or early Friday morning is desired to
sort out supplies available and supplies to purchase.
Sunday Lunch co-chair and leftover champion
Primary Responsibility: Work with kitchen on menu, dietary restrictions, and leftover preparation to create an
amazing Emmaus lunch reusing food already purchased or prepared earlier in the weekend. Package, organize,
and find a home for leftovers after lunch. Organize leftovers appropriate for closing.
Sunday Inventory Secretary
Primary responsibility: After breakfast concludes on Sunday, create an Excel spreadsheet of all supplies remaining
that will be packed in the kitchen trailer. This task is vital so an easy transition can be made between men’s
and women’s walk. Men's Walk 48 in Clarence is fast approaching. It's not too early to reserve your favorite
timeslot to help in the kitchen.
Kitchen Volunteer timeslots:
Thursday 3-7 PM
Friday 7 AM - 9 AM, 10 AM - 2 PM, 3 PM - 7PM
Saturday 7 AM - 9 AM, 10 AM - 2 PM, 3 PM - 7 PM
Sunday 7 AM - 9 AM, 10:30 AM - 2 PM.
Please prayerfully consider kitchen volunteer opportunities! Hurry - your favorite task will be filled quickly!
Anyone interested in volunteering for these important kitchen tasks, please give me a call or text message at 585-721-
7237 or email drublee@rochester.rr.com.

From God’s Holy word
Vs 18 “All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to
himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ
God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their tres-
passes against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconcilia-
tion. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his
appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled
to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so
that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
2 Corinthians 5: 18-21 ESV
Vs 23 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for
men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance
as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. 25 For the wrong-
doer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no
partiality.” Colossians 3:23-25 ESV
Chapter 4 Vs 2 “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it
with thanksgiving. Vs 5 Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the
best use of the time. 6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned
with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each per-
son.” Colossians 4: 2, 5-6 ESV
