My Experience as a Mentee

My Background • Academic, PhD in immunology, University of
Manchester
• Research in biological sciences
• Core competency – cellular and molecular systems,
biological experimentations
• Generally, researchers/scientists are very nervous
about the world outside the walls of the academia,
particularly finance and industry.
Nature of Business • Translation of biological sciences (knowledge)
• Application of cellular, molecular and immunologic
systems in industry and industry targetted research
• Consultancy in knowledge/technology transfer
• Target sectors – biopharma, agri-business
• Target regions - overseas
Chronology, 2012-2013
• Feb 2012 – formed company
• May 2012 – 1st trip to South Asia (Bangladesh) for
business development
• Jul 2012 – Introduced to Mentor (David McRobbie)
• Dec 2012 – 2nd trip to Bangladesh >> 3 MOUs signed
• Jan 2013 – MOU signed with Dutch company
• Mar 2013 – Parties came to Mcr, 3 contracts signed
• May 2013 – Initiation of 1st project (pharma company)
• Aug 2013 – 3rd trip to Bangladesh, 1 contract signed
with large agri company
• Sep 2013 – Initiation of 2nd project
