LEADERS’ NEWS
It’s that time of year again! Tired bodies, class and sport celebrations, the angst of new classes, a new teacher and different friends, combined with the excitement and
anticipation of holidays, and in some cases, new schools.
This week we farewell our 45 Year 7 graduates, and 16 of these families leave the school for the last time. Some families have been involved with EPS for over 10 years, and we particularly thank the Brkics, Laventures, Harris, Thallas, Keloth, Heaton and O’Connor Dawkins for their long involvement in our school. We celebrated our Year 7 graduation with a dinner at The Maid of Auckland followed by a formal graduation with family, staff and local dignitaries.
There are 14 other students leaving to start school elsewhere and we wish them well.
It is always sad to say farewell to staff, and next year Ebony Drake has accepted a contract at Flagstaff Hill, Alex Yin is expecting her baby in January, and Joy Groves and Sue Boggiano are taking extended leave. Good luck and thank you to you all.
Yesterday students met their class teacher where possible for 2019, and Reports and placements have been sent home. We understand change is difficult for many people, and we encourage you to spend time with your child helping them adjust to a new situation. Staff for next year is still being confirmed, but we have included the teachers and classes we know are set ready for the start of the year. Room 3 and Room 17 (Sarah Newton and Bernie O’Connor) will move to the new building mid Term 1 on completion of ramps, cabling, carpets, etc. They will open onto our Nature Playground, and join the resident koala who has visited this week. On Monday we officially opened stage 1 of the new playground, and plan more plantings, water opportunities and interactive spaces throughout next year. On our first Pupil free day in March teachers will attend an afternoon workshop from Sticks and Twigs, providing educational play ideas to integrate into the curriculum.
I wish all students, families and staff a relaxing break, and hopefully you all get time to refresh and spend time together. Vacation Care will be operating from 7
th January, and we appreciate the excellent alternative the programme
provides for families in need of care. If you do spend time on our grounds be aware Goodstart Learning Centre are accessing our entry for landscaping in the centre, and our new building will be delivered mid January.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL OUR FAMILIES
YEAR 7 GRADUATION
Last night we celebrated the journey of our year 7 students as they get ready to undertake the next exciting chapter of their lives. These students enjoyed an evening dedicated to showcasing and recognising their achievements. As a school we are very proud of each and every one of them and the milestones that they have achieved during their time at EPS. These students performed heartfelt songs and a very well-choreographed dance which brought many a family and friend, not to mention staff to tears. Whilst they are heading off to over 10 different high schools we wish them all the best and know that the values of the Edwardstown Community will follow them throughout their future endeavours. We would like to thank the staff (past and present), parents and wider community for the care and support they have given to this cohort of students. FINANCE NEWS FOR 2019
For your budgeting purposes: 2019 School Fees (Materials & Services Fee) has been set by our School Council at $370. As in previous years, there will also be a $60 Event Levy to cover some incursions and excursions for 2019. Each child’s class will use the total $60, so it is beneficial to pay this Event Levy at the commencement of the year, along with School Fees, which are due prior to the end of Term 1. PAYMENT PLANS will be extended to all families again – for all fees and charges. Make contact with me in the new year if you would like to take advantage of this easy to set up, set-&-forget option. (Remember… you receive extended credit terms if paying by formalised Payment Plan.)
I wish you all a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Enjoy the change of pace! Jen Goodman Business Manager

WELL DONE MIA!
Mia recently had her hair cut, a big hair cut, cutting off lots of her hair. The special thing about this hair cut was that Mia donated the hair to make specialised wigs for kids who have lost their own hair due to cancer treatments. Such a kind thought, well done Mia.
SCHOOL CONCERT FUN, THANKS TO EVERYONE INVOLVED TO
MAKE THIS NIGHT SUCH A SUCCESS.

To the individual Sport Coordinators, David Handsaker (Cricket), Stephanie Hensgen (Soccer), Larni Riley-Bell (Netball), Linda North (T-Ball), and Narelle Burns (Basketball), thank you for your commitment to all the behind the scenes work and organisation you put in over the season to ensure EPS students get to play their chosen sports. Special thanks to Jo Laird, Judy Fitzpatrick and Scott Polley, for all of your efforts behind the scenes and support to the individual coordinators. To the Coaches and Team Managers who volunteer their time, thank you for your commitment and dedication each week for trainings and game days. To the Parents/Caregivers, thank you for getting your child/rens out each week to the games and trainings. To the Players, thank you for your commitment and dedication to your chosen sports. You have all represented EPS with enthusiasm and upheld the school’s values of Respect, Care and Compassion, and Doing Your Best. We trust you all have enjoyed your sports this year, and look forward to seeing many of you returning to After Hour School Sports in 2019.
