VISION

In 2008, at the Tenth Summit of Tuxtla“Mechanism of Dialogue and Agreement” the Heads of State and Governments approved the Mesoamerican Strategy for Environmental Sustainability (EMSA).The Agreement promoted coordination of immediate regional environmental actions in the strategic areas of biodiversity, forests, climate change and sustain-able competitiveness.
In 2013, the Ministers Council of the EMSA approved its Action Plan 2013-2016, which de�nes the climate change component, establishing cooperative actions aimed to strengthening technical capabilities for forest conservation at regional level.
In 2015, the Ministers Council of the EMSA, at its Fourth Meeting, agreed to "establish a virtual center of excellence in Forest Monitoring, as a technology platform that facilitates the exchange of knowledge, experiences and best practices".
The Mesoamerican Virtual Center of Excel-lence in Forest Monitoring is a regional initia-tive globally positioned for his quality, relevance and impact that supports the Meso-american efforts related to sustainable forest management.
