Why actant?
“Latour defines 'actantiality' as "what provides actants with their actions, with their subjectivity, with their intentionality, with their morality". (Basden, 2002-2008)

Why rhizome? The term ‘rhizome’ is a metaphor for a non-linear, non-eschatological, non-teleological system or network. A non-linear narrative story-world can be said to be ‘rhizomatic’.Deleuze, G. and Guattari, F. (1987). Introduction: Rhizome. In: A Thousand Plateaus. Minneapolis, MN: University of Minnesota Press, 3–25.
Argument:
Actantiality, because it is rhizomatic, i.e. forms a complex, non-linear system or network or story-world, articlulates inside and outside, the subjective and the objective, the self and the other.
Actantiality is inherently inter-subjective and inter-corporeal.
It therefore differs from simpler models of subjectivity, agency and intentionality.
