Key word Definitions
Push factor This is something that may cause issues in the migration such as visa, cost, natural features such as mountains
Pull factor A factor that leads to a person leaving their place of origin. It is something that is bad about where they live
Intervening obstacle
Someone who has left their place of origin to improve the amount of money they have got, and thus their SOL
Economic migrant
Someone who leaves their place of origin as a result of the local or national government
Asylum seeker
A factor that will attract someone to an area – it is something that will ususally make their lives better by improving their SOL / QOL
Political Migrant
This is someone who has left their country of origin for fear of persecution as a reuslt of their life style or personal beliefs
