parish of Winnersh, Wokingham

WinnershWokingham
Winnersh is situated on the main road between
the market town of Wokingham and Reading
(A329). The centre of Winnersh is known
locally as ‘Winnersh crossroads’, the junction
of the A329 and B3030 (King Street Lane
leading to the pretty village of Sindlesham and
Robin Hood Lane towards the villages of Hurst
and Twyford).
Milford Grange benefits from being a short
distance from local shops, including one of the
biggest superstores in the area, local amenities
and is also within an excellent school catchment
area. Ofsted have described Winnersh
Primary School as having an ‘outstandingly
rich curriculum’ and there are highly sought-
after local state and independent secondary
schools including Forest Boys’ School, The
Holt Girls’ School, Bearwood College and
Luckley Oakfield.
There is plenty to see and do in the area such
as the Showcase Cinema, Nirvana Spa/Pulse8
gym, a good selection of pubs both in Winnersh
itself and in the surrounding villages and
last, but by no means least, Dinton Pastures
Country Park.
Comprising approximately 230 acres Dinton
Pastures Country Park was opened to the
public in 1979 and attracts many visitors who
come to walk, picnic, fish, birdwatch and, for
the more energetic, take part in the various
watersports available i.e. windsurfing, sailing

and canoeing etc.. It even boasts its own golf
course, Hurst Golf Course, a pay and play 9
hole course with a reputation for challenging
golfers of all abilities. Dinton is a mix of rivers,
meadows, woodland and lakes, the largest of
which is Black Swan, and is home to a variety
of wetland birds such as swans, geese, coots
and moorhens. The Dragonfly Café offers a
well-earned cup of tea or coffee and maybe a
slice of cake – the perfect way to end your day
at Dinton Pastures!
A short drive from Winnersh lies the small
market town of Wokingham. It retains its old
charm yet still boasts a range of smaller High
Street stores that cover day to day needs,
including two large supermarkets, a weekly
market and an eclectic mix of bars, pubs and
restaurants to satisfy whatever your taste
buds desire!
Shopaholics need look no further than The
Oracle, situated in the heart of Reading town
centre. It combines both chic boutiques with
major department stores, so there’s something
for everyone. After you have ‘shopped til you
drop’ what could be better than relaxing in
one of the Riverside restaurants, cafes and
bars that stretch along both sides of the River
Kennet, and when the weather’s fine you can
take advantage of al fresco dining and watch
the world go by.
Sports enthusiasts are well catered for in the
area. Madjeski Stadium is home to both Reading
Football Club and the London Irish Rugby
Union team and over 15,000 runners annually
compete in the Reading Half Marathon. If you
‘fancy a flutter’ then an eighteen minute train
journey from Winnersh Station takes you to
Ascot, the world’s most famous racecourse.

Winnersh has excellent road and rail
communications with easy access to the M
motorway via the A329(M) and two stations
(Winnersh and Winnersh Triangle) on the
Reading to Waterloo line. There is also a
regular bus service that runs every 30 minutes
on weekdays through the centre of the
village between Reading and Bracknell (via
Wokingham) and London Heathrow airport is
just a thirty minute drive away.

About Bewley
Whatever the price range or house style, each Bewley home is built
in a carefully selected location and designed to complement its
environment, while meeting the practical requirements of everyday
living. Quality and imagination combined with meticulous attention
to exterior and internal detail are the key factors that have enabled
Bewley Homes to secure its strong reputation for excellence.
Bewley Homes promotes environmentally responsible designs and
specifies building techniques that typically score in the top ten per
cent for energy efficiency.
The company also has a clearly defined policy regarding landscaping
and protecting the environment and, as a result, is a consistent
winner of Green Leaf Awards for its extensive new plantings, creating
habitats for local wildlife and for the implementation of eco-friendly
products such as hazel-hurdle fencing. The company firmly believes
in working with local communities to achieve the best planning and
design solutions and its portfolio of award-winning developments has
played a crucial role in building relationships and confidence. As a
result Bewley Homes is recognised and respected by its purchasers
and planning authorities for outstanding quality, innovation and
development excellence. The many awards and commendations
the company has received since 1996 demonstrate its diverse skill
across a range of disciplines including luxury and starter homes,
restoration and exterior design. These accolades, however, are not
just for the design and quality of Bewley Homes but also for the high
level of customer care, which draws praise from purchasers and the
house-building industry.
