OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The Geosystems CSIRO* Minifrac system is a low cost Hydraulic Fracturing tool for determiningstressinapplicationswhereaquickaquick2Dmeasurementissufficient.Hydraulicfracturingmeasuringtechniquesproduceabiaxialstressmeasurement.
TheMinifracsystemhasbeenusedforstressdeterminationprojectsincludingtheM5TunnelsSydneyAustralia,theMacArthurRiverMineNTAustralia,TorinoLimestoneCavernsTorinoItalyandtheNationalInstituteofRockMechanicsIndia.TheCSIROMinifracsystemissuitableforuseinCollieries.Ourstandarddualrecordersystemsfeaturesaquickreleaseremoveableelectronic&powerpackforoperationsindangerousenvironments.TheMinifracdoesnotcontainaluminiumorplastic,makingitconduciveforoperationinexplosiveenvironments.
Hydraulicfracturinginvolvestheisolationofpartofaboreholeusinganinflatablestraddlepackerandthesubsequentpressurisationoftheholeuntilthewallrockfractures.Ifanaxialfractureisproduced,thepressurerecordobtainedduringthetestcanbeusedtodeterminethemagnitudesofthesecondaryprincipalstressesintheplanenormaltothetestholeaxis.TheMinifracSystemissuppliedinarobusttransportationcase.Thesystemhasbeendesignedtobeselfcontainedandeasilytransportedtositeinanundergroundmine.Systemoptionsincludebothrecordertypes.Mechanical/electronicchart/electronicchartwithdataloggerandadditionalhosefordeepertesting.
