IN-HOUSE TRAINING PROGRAMMES
Delhi Cluster
Dear Colleagues
It gives me a great pleasure to release our Annual Training Calendar for the year
2012-13. The Calendar has been designed to address our IC’s changing learning
needs – those that stem for a dynamic business landscape.
At L&T, training is not just something that is incidental to an individual’s career
development – it is a fundamental requisite for giving the Company and the
employees the winning edge. In L&T, Training & Development regarded as an
integral part of an employees’ overall growth as well as Organization’s growth.
I urge all staff members to continuously upgrade themselves to stay ahead with the changing times, which is
the need of the hour.
I believe that this training calendar will provide an opportunity for the staff members to choose programmes
based on both individual as well as IC requirements.
Happy Learning
Warm Regards,
D.R. Ray
EVP & Head
Dear colleagues,
Organizations need to create an environment that ensures that the top talent is
nurtured and retained. Accordingly, Training and Development (T&D) is the most
important HRM function that increases its competitive power and acts as a
differentiator. Training refers to improving competencies needed today or very
soon leading to Development intended for improvement over a long period of
time.
Training aims at developing employee skills and knowledge to improve their productivity and performance
and preparing them for progression and developing a new generation of leadership. The role of training
becomes more significant when the organizational culture and growth revolves around it. I would like to take
this opportunity to compliment all our workers and employees who have ensured continuous improvement
not only qualitatively but quantitatively and we now proudly refer to various references of
“ benchmark” projects thanks to their efforts and their knowledge.
It is in this spirit that our HR Department has a clear road map of activities and is committed to provide high
quality trainings for the development of every single employee. I hope that with all your support and
cooperation coupled with the effort of HR Department will bring further laurels and adulation to our
organization.
With warm regards,

Message from Mr. Derek Michael Shah, Vice President & Head M&M SBG
Dear Colleagues,
“ A man can seldom, very very seldom, fight a winning fight against his training: the
odds are too heavy “ - Mark Twain. And we, in L&T, believe in that.
We believe in the old saying that ‘ there is only one thing, which is constant for this
universe and that is change’. If we do not learn to adapt ourselves with the changing
world, the world will leave us behind and soon we would be counted with the old
species of living being, who could not cope up with the fast changing universe and
got wiped out. I am sure, L&T-ites would never want to be counted as one of those
obsolete creatures. And here comes the need and importance of Training
L&T Management is a strong believer in the concept that continuous training & learning has got no
alternative, for the development of the three stakeholders of Training, eg. the Organization, the Trainee and
Trainer. L&T believes in the famous statement of Thomas J. Peters that “Train everyone lavishly, you can’t
overspend on Training”. Each L&T-ite should feel indebted to the Company in general and HR Dept for
providing an excellent infrastructure and facilities fort the Training & development of almost entire staffs,
across all levels, in various contemporary areas, spanning over a whole year. Each one of us should use this
learning & training facilities, for the development of our own self, our family and our great Organization.
I feel extremely happy to forward the Training Schedule of our IC. I am sure, the Training will help the
employees to be better human beings, who can adapt himself with the changing world and can effectively
contribute in a change environment.
“I never teach my pupils, I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn” - Albert Einstein.
Wish you all a Happy Learning.
Kumar Vikram
Vice President & Head - BMH Business Unit
Dear colleagues,
I have pleasure to present our Training Calendar for the period from April 2012 to
March 2013.
We have aligned our training needs to our strategic goals, taking into account
individual needs identified through FAIR process, as well as business needs based on
the inputs from Business Units / Departments / Clusters.
As you are aware, we have been focusing on improving knowledge sharing. I would request all the
participants of the training programmes to share their knowledge / learnings from the programmes with their
colleagues / peers. It is a twin advantage whereby staff members who have not attended the programme
get benefited through Knowledge Sharing Session and it is advantageous for the individual staff member who
takes the session amongst his colleagues which will in the long run increases the confidence of the individual
to face the larger audience.
I look forward to receiving your continuous support in all our training initiatives.
