Looking Ahead To 1982 As we enter the gates of the Universal Fair of 1982 , along the beautiful banks of the Papio
Creek , we are greeted by Mary Lee Jepsen , the official Fair Greeter. It seems that the graduating class of ' 62 has convened here today .
We are supposed to have a guide , but I cannot see her. Well , it ' s George Fredericks and Norman Honaker , the spoonmen , with assistants Cheryl Hinds and Lyta Bellinger aiming our way . Ti1ere ' s our guide . It ' s Cindy Morrison ! She is running the cheapest guide tour around , on foot.
Let ' s head for the midway; across the way there seems to be a popular dance studio , run by Ronita Bell. And first in line is Marvin Leaders . Good Luck !
Betty (Red) Bailey finally did it. She has a hair salon here --her specialty being a brown tint job for redheads . Glenda Curnutt is in the chair now getting a yellow tint.
Beware! If you see someone mumbling to himself don ' t call the Phsyc . It ' s just Jim Hicks , who has been in the Marathon Talking Contest for two weeks now . He 's a heavy favorite.
There seems to be a speaker , let ' s sit and listen. Why , it ' s Bill Goff , famous orator from Peru State , but there must be something wrong with the mike; I can ' t understand a word he ' s saying . Look who are sitting in front of us --Sue Landgren and Judy Christensen--both teachers . Sue has a kindergarten class , since she failed to "get her man . " Judy now is teaching the subtle art of skipping school without being caught. I wonder if her sister ever learned?
Let ' s leave the lecture and head for the education center. There ' s Carla Johnson , official Fair translator . S.1e now has seven children , one for each language she speaks . Talking with her is Pam Scott , an unofficial translator. Pam speaks her own form of Norwegian that only she understands .
Isn't that Jim Kelly leaning against the Pavilion? I see he still had his beloved Trig book with him. Speaking of Math , I hear that the two world renowned physics lecturers , Judy Glesmann and Roger McColloch , are at the Fair ' s Science exhibit.
Marlyn Nagler and Pauline Young just walked by , I see the two finally got their official MRS in boyology .
Speaking of marriage , Terre Willard still is . Jody Hegenberger is back from Florida . She was only there long enough to catch a plane to
Kansas City . Oh- oh duck ! Here comes Mary Alyce Christiansen. She is a nurse now , and I hear she wields
a mean needle. As we stroll across the famous old Papio Park toward the Ag. Center we site Betty Koke keeping
the grounds clean with a pin stuck in the end of her baton . Well , well , it 's Conrad (Wildman) Wildhagen , Playboy of the year. He struck oil in his ' tater
patch ' and finally made his million . I see Doug Olsen , but he ' s heading for the track . Doug is still racing, but not cars now.
Congratulations go to Ron Schram. He finally got the pickup started and made it into town . Across the way is Eldon Boone ' s car shop for Volkswagen transmissions.
It ' s getting quite late and we are to meet Slade Jackson and his wife for dinner on the moon . Slade finally found someone uglier than he and settled down .
Halfway to our goal we pass an accident. It is none other than Genevieve Peterson; she seems to have run into Patty Harlow , or vice- versa .
After docking our ship we head for the Space Splint for dinner. Surprise ! Carol Tomlin is the elevator operator up here . She wanted to travel a little after school.
Sandra Smithberg is our waitress; she got the habit of waiting in her high school days . While we talk with Slade about his new job as a studyhall teacher the curtain rises on the
show and none other than Connie Tomlin in a floor length mink appears . The day is almost over. Let ' s head back to Papio for one final look . What 's this? There
seems to be an anti -gravmobile stuck in a radiation "ditch . " And right beside it , trying to move it back into the lonesome travelway is Jerry Kritenbrink . The car must be Steve Case ' s because here he comes now with the keys . I guess they were in his space suit all along .
Back in Papio now . Everything is closed up for the night. But wait ! Here comes the last senior from "62 . Old lonesome Larry Smith . My , he looks haggard . I guess he still must be living in his old math teacher ' s attic .
It seems to me that though the time has changed , the kids haven ' t.
2 3
Just a minor adjustment.
"Aaah--c'mon, Sue !"
"Not too tight , Cindy !"
Seniors Offer
"Listen to that applause!"
"Sorry, that ' s the wrong line."

Four sisters mixing in the love life of one brother ••• four sisters determined not to move away from St .
