MySats: Guide for Crossroads Students

Purpose

All the Crossroads courses are facilitated on the

MySats site. This purpose of this presentation is

to help you to navigate the course site easily,

and to understand the conditions for completing

a Crossroads course on MySats.

RESOURCES

Content Functions

FILES

You will see files that are can be

downloaded from the course

page. The icons will differ, based

on the type of file that it is. You

may see documents,

presentations, and other types of

files.

Page

This icon represents Moodle’s

PAGE function. It is essentially

just a webpage inside a course.

The webpage may consist only of

text, or it can include embedded

media such as Presentations,

Videos, Pictures, or Lectures.

Website

If you see this icon, it is a link to

an external website. The link

could be to a webpage, a

resource, or a video on YouTube.

We do not have many of these in

the Crossroads courses.

ACTIVITIES

Action Functions

Assignments

This icon represents a task or an

assignment that you need to

complete. These will be practical

tasks. You must follow the

instructions; when you have

completed the task, you simply

tick the grey box beside the

assignment.

Assignments

At the bottom left are the check

boxes to indicate when you have

completed an assignment. By

default, it looks like the top

(empty) box. When you complete

an assignment, you manually

click on the box. This marks the

activity as complete by inserting

a tick mark in the box.

Incomplete

Complete

Forums

Activities that have this icon

require you to post your

experiences or reflections to a

forum. All the students in your

group will post their responses,

so the responses are “public.”

You are welcome to respond to

other students posts, and we

encourage you to do so.

Forums

Incomplete

Complete

To complete a forum, you must

post your response. The moment

you post your response, MySats

will automatically tick the activity

as complete.

Note: When the square has a

broken line, you cannot manually

tick it as complete.

QUIZZES

This icon indicates a review quiz.

The quiz will consist of multiple-

choice, true-or-false, matching,

and short-answer questions. You

are allowed to use your study

materials to help you answer the

quiz questions, i.e. these are

open-book quizzes.

Feedback

At the end of each courses, there

is a feedback form. We really

want to know how these courses

are affecting your relationship

with God. We also want to hear

your suggestions to improve the

courses. The feedback, which is

compulsory, is completely

anonymous.

PROGRESS BAR

You can see your progress on the

Progress Bar

When you enter your

course, you will see the

«Progress Bar» in the top

right corner. It indicates at a

glance how much of the

course you have completed.

Each block represents a

required activity. This is how

it appears before you begin.

Progress Bar

When you complete an

activity, the «Progress Bar»

marks it as complete. This

example shows that the

student has completed the

first two requirements, 2 of

8, and has now completed

25% of the required

activities.

Progress Bar

This is what the «Progress

Bar» looks like when you

have completed all the

required activities. This

indicates that you have

finished the course.

COURSE COMPLETION STATUS

You can see more details about your progress using the

Course Completion Status

The «Course Completion

Status» block gives you

more information about the

required activities and their

completion status. This is

what it looks like when you

first log in to your course.

Click on «More details» to

see specific requirements.

Course Completion Status

Course Completion Status

This column lists all the

required activities that

must be completed.

Course Completion Status

This column indicates what you

must do to have an activity marked

at «Complete». If it is blank, the

activity is marked as complete

when you have submitted or

posted what is required. If it says

«Marking yourself complete», you

must check the box beside the

activity on the course page.

Course Completion Status

This column simply indicates

whether or not you have

completed an activity. If you

have completed it, the date

on which it was completed is

supplied.

Course Completion Status

The student has now

completed the first two

activities. You can see that

they are marked “Yes” and

the date of completion is

given (15 Dec. 2014).

Course Completion Status

When all the activities are

marked as “Yes” (complete),

then you have completed

the course!

ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE!

We trust that your relationship with Jesus Christ will be

greatly strengthened and deepened as you complete

Crossroads online.
