Legend of the

Moon Festival

In ancient China, we had 10 Sun

God. They shine the earth by turns.

However, one day, they decided to

play together. This decision results a

v e r y b a d c o n s e q u e n c e .

The land was burning. Water

depletion. Thousands of people dead.

The world became the Living Hell.

Hou Yi, the warrior was very

angry. He took the magic bow as

weapon and then climb onto the

highest mountain. Finally, he killed 9

Sun Gods and saved the wor ld.

People demanded him to be the

emperor because of his brave and

kindness behavior. In addition, the

Heavenly Queen Mother gave him the

E l i x i r o f l i f e a s t h e r e w a r d .

Power tends to corrupt. The

hero became a cruel tyrant over time .

Chang-O (Hou Yi’s wife), witness

this terrible change. She felt very painful.

In order to save common people, she ate

the Elixir of life to prevent this brutal man

b e c a m e t h e E t e r n a l .

Hou Yi tried to stop his wife. However,

to see Chang-O fly to the moon was

t h e o n l y t h i n g h e c o u l d d o .

Her sacrifice touched everybody.

From then on, people start to worship

the moon, to worship the kind and

b e a u t y g o d d e s s , C h a n g - O .

Why do we eat

Zhu Yuan Zhang, the

son of peasant wanted to drove the

M o n g o l s o u t o f C h i n a .

His armies were hided in different

places. He needed a clever way to

inform them the attacking time.

Liu, his close

a d v i s o r f i n a l l y

b r i l l i a n t i d e a .

The military orders

were hided in the

moon cakes.

And arranged 8/15

to start the war.

A t t h e e n d o f t h e w a r, t h e y

successfully overthrew the Yuan Dynasty.

Zhu became the emperor and set up

M i n g D y n a s t y a t l a s t .
