FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to school. I have enjoyed listening to the children’s holiday stories; relaxing at home, going to the movies (Oddball is a favourite), fami-ly holidays, going to the Royal Show, playing with school friends and vaca-tion care activities.
We welcome four new students and their families to the school; Nicolas in kindy, Jackson year 1, Willem year 2 and Scott year 6.
During the holidays I had my first experience doing “Show Parking”. It was amazing! Special thanks to the P&C, staff, parents and student volunteers for your commitment to raise significant funds for the school. On behalf of the Mount Claremont school community I extend a sincere thank you to; Anita Bertschinger P&C show parking coordinator extraordinaire and Fiona Murray P&C President for their super organisational skills to endure a suc-cessful event and school office staff Mrs Lambrecht and Mrs Haase for as-sisting with numerous enquires from the public. A huge “round of applause” to everyone!
Miss Sophie Kaden, Visual Arts specialist teacher displayed and entered student art work at the Royal Show in the Pigeon and Poultry Schools Art-work Competition. The school received 6 places for their artwork. “The art-work received from Mount Claremont was outstanding and your art teacher Miss Kaden should be congratulated on such interesting art work”, Jodie Event Coordinator, Royal Agricultural Society of WA. The art will be dis-played in the hall. Congratulations Miss Kaden, student winners and partici-pants on your artistic success.
During term 4 the school is trialling an early morning play strategy for stu-dents in years 1-6. Students are required to be at school by 8:30am. Should students arrive earlier than 8:30 and not be under the supervision of a par-ent they are to go to the undercover area to be supervised by me or Mrs Johnson. Between 8:30 and 8:40 the children can play in the undercover area and netball court. At 8:40 they will be sent to class to get ready for the school day starting at 8:45. Teachers will be discussing this with students today and before school play starts tomorrow. An update will be provided in the next newsletter.

The Arts—DANCE
Our annual Dance Program starts today. The Pamela Humphreys Dance Program is a curriculum

movement, posture and mechanics. The program progresses from fun and simple choreography for
younger students through to ballroom, Latin, salsa and hip hop for older students.
The students will attend a lesson each Wednesday for the next seven weeks and the program will
conclude with a Social evening on Wednesday 25th November ( from 6pm – 7:30pm) in the under-
cover area where the students will show off their newly gained skills.

SPORT NEWS
Interschool Athletics Carnival
Towards the end of last term Mount Claremont students from year 3-6 competed in the Interschool Athletics Car-nival at Swanbourne Primary School. Once again there were many outstanding performances and the sports-manship displayed was exemplary as per usual.
Mount Claremont finished 6th in the overall and Meritorious shields. Given the small size of our school we al-ways punch well above our weight division and there were many huge efforts put in during training and on the carnival day. I would like to congratulate all of our students as well as our parents who assisted with training during Term 3, in particular Nicky Lester who organised all training sessions brilliantly.

Staff vs Student Match
In the last week of Term 3 we held staff vs students volleyball match during lunch. It was our chance for our
Year 6 students to gain bragging rights over the MCPs staff cohort. However, despite their valiant efforts our
Year 6 students narrowly lost a thrilling encounter 24-23. There will be a rematch during Term 4, the sport is yet
to be determined, better luck next time boys and girls!
