Advice from leading women with international careers
Go for it! When I left the UK for Hong Kong, someone told me to have a fabulous time and that, as soon as it stopped being fabulous, I could go home, and it was one of the wisest – and most comforting – pieces of advice I received.
Don’t expect to achieve everything at once, for example, you may need to move internationally without your perfect job or find your perfect job locally. Ultimately you have to decide what’s important to you. Above all, have courage!
I would think hard about the impact it will have on you, and your family, and take the decision as a group. It is massively rewarding, but also destabilising, and the whole family will go through a roller-coaster in the first 6 months.
