1. Topography, village densities, locations and people all vary from area to area

2. In sanitation no one size fits all

3. Standardize the approach and the vehicle through which to plan, implement, share skills and monitor

4. Use and mentorship of LEC versus PSP

5. Gather backlog baseline data and move from project to programme approach following grant funding application format for multiyear projects including all key policy aspects, costing and implementation methodology

6. Include all stakeholders at local level and meet in villages every two weeks to once per month to monitor and support emerging providers and track progress and bottlenecks vs. expenditure and quality

ONGOING SANITATION CHALLNEGESONGOING SANITATION CHALLNEGES

1. Success requires a local sanitation champion or driver to maintain momentum.

2. The pressure of targets and high amounts of allocated funding is leading to compromise in monitoring real outputs of quality and service

3. There is a serious lack of skilled capacity to manage and sustain sanitation infrastructure in the longer term – and very high turn over of officials and service providers (+2010 soccer)
