CHILDREN VOLUNTEERS TRAIN ADULTS IN INFORMATION LITERACY

AT THE LIBRARY AT N.Y. VAPTSAROV 1924 PUBLIC CHITALISHTE IN

STAMBOLIYSKI

As one of the 15 libraries that took part in the project, the library at N.Y. Vaptsarov 1924 Public Chitalishte in Stamboliyski prepared and implemented an independent initiative “Children Volunteers Train Adults in Information Literacy”.

Project duration: one-day information literacy training of senior citizens, 23 May 2012

Target audience: five citizens 1 man and 4 women; 1 with primary school education, 4 with secondary education; 1 aged up to 60 years, 4 aged 60+. Volunteers: five participants 2nd – 7th grade; two girls and three boys.

OBJECTIVES

Our partner in the one-day initiative is the Municipal Center for Working with Children in Stamboliyski (MCWC). It is a municipality-funded extra-school pedagogical institution employing highly qualified educators; one of them is Velichka Dragieva, IT teacher.

1. Planning – specify project duration and participants: training participants and volunteers, training program and schedule

2. Training organization – distribute responsibilities among the librarian, MCWC IT teacher and volunteers

3. Preparation of resources – badges, consumables, etc. 4. Training delivery 5. Feedback from training participants and volunteers 6. Media coverage 7. Expected results.
