Murray and the Magic Stubbies

Written by Nicola Hind and Nicole Smart

He quickly jumped into his Honda City and began his journey………

A journey he would never forget.

One day Murray was enjoying the delightful rays of Aotearoa’s sun when he suddenly decided to go for a scenic drive

Whilst driving through the winding road singing along to “Slice of Heaven.” He stopped by the wishing tree on the side of the road.

“Oh Te Ara-o-Hinehopu (the name of the special tree) Please listen to my wish, I would be delighted if you granted it for me. For my nephew, I wish for real life singing teletubbies……..”

……. Then all of a sudden there was a pair of levitating stubbies!!!

With a confused look on his face, Murray suggested that the Wishing Tree must have misheard his request. As he spoke strange sparks started flying around the shorts that had remarkably appeared out of no where!

Murray was very intrigued by this, and as he examined the fine stitching and faded colour on the stubbies he decided to put them on.

As Murray stood posing with his new found clothing, he was too excited to realise he himself was floating in the air just as the stubbies were 5 minutes ago!!

Frightened at first he flew higher and higher until he was soaring with the seagulls in the sky!

What he didn’t know about the wishes that were granted buy Te Ara-o-Hinehopu was that they only last a day. As the sun began to set the sparks form the stubbies slowly faded until there was no spark left and Murray began to fall back down to the ground.

Murray sighed and ventured back home.
