Colonel Yawd Serk commander of the Shan State Army (SSA). The 49 yr-old

(b.1957) leader was 17 when he joined the armed struggle against the Burmese

military regime and rose to the rank of battalion commander in Khun Sa's Mong

Tai Army (MTA). Since forming in 1994, after the demise of the MTA, the SSA has

been the only ethnic force in the Shan State to continually defy the Burmese

ဥးေ းေဝင (a.k.a) Mr. Serge Pun Chairman, Yoma Strategic Holdings Ltd Serge Pun is a Myanmar national and the chairman of the SPA Group. He founded Serge Pun & Associates Limited in 1983 in Hong Kong and was then primarily active in real estate development and consultancy services. In 1991, Serge Pun decided to return to the country of his birth and set up SPA (Myanmar) Limited which has today grown to become one of the country’s leading corporations, with approximately 30 operating companies active in 6 key business sectors including financial services (banking), real estate development, automobile assembly and distribution, agriculture, manufacturing, and the services industry. The group’s notable projects in Myanmar include such landmarks as FMI Centre, FMI City, Pun Hlaing Golf Estate, Pun Hlaing International Hospital and Thalyin Star City. In 2006, Serge Pun led his Yoma Strategic Holdings to a successful listing on the mainboard of the Singapore Stock Exchange. Serge Pun was Honorary Business Representative of International Enterprise Singapore (formerly known as the Trade Development Board of Singapore) for

Myanmar from 2004 to 2006. In 2007, he was appointed to be a member of Dalian’s CPPCC (Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference). He has been invited to many international forums as guest speaker or panelist on subjects relating to China, Myanmar and ASEAN.

He became commander, in 1956, of 5th Brigade in Thaton, and in 1961 was responsible for sending his troops to attack Mae Sot in what was believed to be retaliation after a dispute with Thai traders. In 1963 he surrendered with Saw Hunter Thamwe and married

film actress and former Miss Burma Naw Louisa Benson. He was killed by Burmese agents in September 1965.
