Where is Procurement Today?
• In this economy of continual budget declines we still must:• Strive for efficient and effective operations
• Increase customer service (quality and value)
• Be more proactive in social responsibility and sustainability as a central operational theme• Serves to improve student, employee and community success
• Increase staff core competencies and qualities• Provide succession planning and professional competency support via face to face and virtual
professional development
• To continue to add value to institutional success we must:• Provide additional revenue for the institution as state and federal support is decreasing
• Strategically manage procurement savings and risk for the institution
• Use spend analytics to manage more effectively and efficiently

How Does NAEP Help?
Create data and tools to strengthen Members’ role as strategic leaders on campus

• Redesigned to enable a campus to host--best way to educate all campus stakeholders at one time
• Present with all 3 tiers under one roof• Over 50 attendees in 2011• Next offering, October 28-30, 2012 in Indianapolis
• Regional Leadership Forum at NAEP’s Annual Meeting• 80% of survey respondents said they hoped to come back• Scheduled again in 2013
• Facilities Institute• FIRST EVER Institute - Held in July 2012 in Houston• Over 40 attendees and 20 vendors participated

• 6th Supplier Diversity Institute• Held in August 2012 in Houston
• Over 30 attendees with keynotes by: Dr. Callender, President UTMB and Dr. Lassiter, Chancellor Dallas County Community College District
• Supplier Diversity page on NAEP website
• Webcasts• In 2012, there were 4 VISA sponsored webcasts free to Members
• With over 700 hundred registrations, (does not include multiple viewers per webcast) registration increased 3-5 fold
• Creating free virtual roundtables in 2013--NAEP to host virtual discussions on Member driven topics

• NAEP Spend Metrics analytics• First analytics example based on Cal State System (24 campuses) data with four outcomes
• Drive collaborative procurement
• Eliminate process inefficiencies
• Reliably monitor Diversity spend
• Benchmark relative spend efficiency
• NAEP’s goal it to be the leading market indicator for higher education spend
• NAEP GPO Portal (aka – NAEP Source)• Unimarket selected as software provider
