BULLFROGS

Hi, kids! I’m Billy the

bullfrog! I have a story to

tell you.

First, I was in a pet shop.

Then a boy adopted me!

His name was Jarvin.

Jarvin took me to his home. We had

lots of fun together. But

Jarvin’s family had to move, and they

didn’t want to take me with

them!

I was plopped right here on

this lilypad. At first I was

lonely, but…

But soon, things weren’t

looking great in the swamp…

The water and plants weren’t as nice as they

used to be!

We stopped seeing as many

of our other creature friends

around…

There were less flies for

me to eat, too!

It’s because bullfrogs areINVASIVE SPECIES

They are animals or plants that enter a new habitat, and hurt the animals and plants that were already living there

What are invasive species,

you ask?

What have bullfrogs done as invasive species?

They compete with native species and disrupt the environment

How can you prevent what

happened to me from happening to other animals and

habitats?

NEVER release your pets into the

wild!

Let’s see how much you remember!

1. It was okay for Jarvin’s family to leave Billy at the pond.

Yes No

2. Invasive species are good for the environment.

Yes No

3. You should never free your pets into the wild.

Yes No

Thanks for watching my story! I hope you learned something

about invasive species today. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some flies to

catch!
