How does the NDIS market compare

Quarter 4 - 30 June 2018

More than 183,000 Australian are benefiting from the

NDIS.

176,197 people have received individualised plans, helping

them change their lives by accessing the support and services

they need to live more independently and engage with their

community.

At 30 June 2018 7,768 children receiving support through

the NDIS Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) approach.

54,802 people are receiving support for the first time.

Can I access the NDIS?

How do you apply?

As a priority cohort, the NDIA is contacting YPIRAC clients to

commence access and planning. NDIA Planners are holding face-to-

face access and planning conversations with the prospective

participants, and if relevant their nominee and/or support person.

If a prospective participant isn’t contacted by the NDIA, the resident

can contact the NDIS on 1800 800 110 and request an Access

Request Form to be sent to test eligibility.

What if I do not meet the NDIS

• Decisions for all funded supports, including AT, are made against the Reasonable and Necessary criteria outlined in the NDIS Act.

• This criteria includes:

• Assist the participant to pursue the goals objectives and aspirations

• Assist the participant’s social and economic participation

• Represent value for money

• Be, or likely to be, effective and beneficial for the participant

• Takes into account of what is reasonable to expect families, carers, informal networks and the community to provide

• Be appropriate for the NDIS to fund or provide

The NDIS Rules

Rule 5 outlines what supports will not be funded by the

NDIS:

- Not related to disability

- Funded by other systems

- Things that may cause harm

- Daily living costs

NDIS may provide a number of

supports including

• Support to access and participant in age-appropriate social,

civic and community activities

• Supports to identify alternative suitable age-appropriate

living arrangements

• Therapy supports, including allied health to maintain or

improve functional performance, independence and social

and economic participation

• Assistive technology to support a participant build their

functional performance and independence

• Supports to consider suitable age appropriate housing

solutions

NDIS may assist people to live in

the community

• NDIS can assist to explore a goal of living in the

community through funding additional supports to

identify housing solutions

• Supports may include:-

– Funds to explore your options

– Funds for assessments needed

– Funds to make your home accessible

– Funds to build your skills

– Funds for personal care supports

Transitioning YPIRAC to NDIS………..

accommodation agreements

• Discuss your goals and aspirations

involvement
