Rationale for choosing this project

• Butterflies ,the Biological resources need protection against inappropriate uses and overexploitation.

• The need for awareness regarding problem of butterfly conservation amongst the public .

• To form a professional working group and a network to study butterflies at grass root level.

• To identify target groups like --- students from urban , semi urban, rural , areas around

the globe --- Geographical area where butterflies are in abundance and

less in number and stake holders in that area --- Scientists working on wildlife related to butterflies

• To make government aware of need of conservation / butterflies sanctuaries as they are treated as non-target group of species

• To apprise people of inter- specific relationships and ecological processes taking place through smaller life forms like butterflies

• Butterflies serve as important plant pollinators in the local environment, and help pollinate more than 50 economically important plant crops
