Continued
Brett Lee Litter THERE can not be too many litters left
to come from one of our greatest ever
sires, Brett Lee (January 1999 Gun Law
Osti x Sobbing Sal).
Tomerong breeder, Graham
Ganderton has a nice litter of eleven
pups of his on this week’s list which
should attract plenty of interest.
The six dogs and five bitches are from the beautifully
bred bitch, Shady Ace, December 2012 Collision x Tifi),
whose dam is by Bombastic Shiraz x Chili Berger
(Elle’s Commando x Alice Dooley).
Shady Ace is from her dam’s second Collision
litter, which included Aisle Tifi, Cool Tifi, Go Hunter,
Red Bastion, She’s All Aussie, Sheza Chance, Tiffster
and Twist Me Over.
Their dam, Tifi, also produced winners from her
first Collision litter, and two other litters, by Mogambo
and Where’s Pedro.
Shady Ace raced 29 times for eight wins and 14
placings, winning five times over 520 metres at
Wentworth Park (29.59), twice over 520 metres at
Nowra (29.64) and also over 520 metres at Dapto
(29.85).
I would imagine the five bitches in this litter will
attract plenty of interest from prospective buyers with
future breeding in mind, given their pedigree.
Mogambo litter UNDER-RATED sire Mogambo (January 2016 Where’s
Pedro x Zarbo) has a nice litter of six pups on this
week’s list.
Bargo breeder, Robert Sullivan has the litter of
three dogs and three bitches, from the well bred bitch,
Classy Icon (December 2008 Big Daddy Cool x Belle
Lucille), whose dam is by Go Wild Teddy x Grayson
(Bobniak x Grayson Bale).
Classy Icon is from a litter of eight, which
included Cracker Smile, Apache Icon, Bob’s Icon,
Highly Spirited, Kool Icon, Phantom’s Icon and Tony’s
Icon.
On the track she raced 45 times for seven wins and
eight placings, winning three times over 535 metres at
Richmond (31.18), twice over 600 metres at Dapto
(35.07) and twice over 520 metres at Wentworth Park
(30.26).
She has good winners on file from two previous
litters, whelped in January 2013 by Lonesome Cry* and
June 2014 by El Grand Senor.
Ready to Rumble
CHURCHABLE breeder, Warren Nicholls has our final
litter for review from this week’s NSW list, which is a
rare litter these days by the under-rated sire Primo Uno
(August 2000 Black Shiraz x Prima Portrait).
The three dogs and three bitches in the litter are
from the well bred, 2014 Group 3 Darwin Cup
placegetter, Rumble Street (October 2011 Hallucinate x
Rumble Charm), whose dam is by Spiral Nikita x
Rumble Spirit (Malawi’s Prince x Follow Through).
Rumble Street is from a litter of three named,
which included Busy Rumble and Rumble Comet, with
their dam also producing winners from her three other
litters, by Bombastic Shiraz, Brett Lee and Where’s
Pedro.
On the track, Rumble Street raced 32 times, for
nine wins and eight placings, winning five times over
520 metres at Albion Park (29.91), where she also won
over 600 metres (35.06), twice over 520 metres at
Lismore (30.44), and also over 537 metres at Darwin
(31.67).
She has five named offspring on file from her first
litter, Ellie 2, Look Us Over, Lord Jack, Pure Karma and
Rumble Drive.
Some of Primo Uno’s best, some now producing at
stud, include He Know’s Uno, Train A Journey, Fedex,
Enry Walt, Piggy Back, Turanza Bale, Shimaguni,
Elektra and Stagger, just to name a few.

Mister Twister Wins Peter Mosman Classic By Jeff Collerson GRNSW Website, for AGRA
Mister Twister, whose racetrack fortunes were
transformed when he underwent a tonstillectomy
earlier this year, lifted his earnings to more than
$250,000 when he led throughout in Saturday night's
Group 1 Ladbrokes Peter Mosman Classic at
Wentworth Park.
The greyhound ($5.50), jumped brilliantly from
box five to defeat gallant Victorian and race favourite Up
Hill Jill ($3.40), who was contesting her sixth group final
for the year, by three lengths.
“From box five he really needed to nail the start
and he certainly did that,” Luke Murray, head of the
Tiger Seven Syndicate which bought Mister Twister as a
puppy at auction for $21,000, said after the race.
Chasin' Crackers ($21), also from Victoria, was
third all the way, one-and-a-half lengths astern, with the
winner covering the 520m in 29.71. That time equalled
Bessy Boo's 2014 figures and bettered the 29.83 posted
last year by Buck Forty, but was a long way short of
Fernando Bale's race record of 29.27 set in 2015.
The win extended Mister Twister’s overall career
record to 14 wins from 32 starts and comes less than a
month after the greyhound won the lucrative $100,000
Richmond Riches. He has also finished second in the
Group 3 Christmas Gift and Group 1 Vic Peters Classic
in 2016.
For Up Hill Jill, it was her fifth second placing in a
group race this year, having finished runner-up in the
Group 1 National Futurity, Group 1 Sapphire Crown,
Group 2 Richmond Oaks and the Group 2 Warrnambool
Classic.
The David Geall-trained greyhound well began
well and was second at the first turn, but was unable to
get near Mister Twister and was in that position for the
remainder of the race.
After the placings, the field finished in the
following order 4th Lucky Chap ($4.60), 5th Set To
Storm ($4.40), 6th Corrupt Millions ($13.00) 7th
Yankee’s Ethics ($20.00) and Central Bark ($19.00).
Mister Twister is a Black Dog whelped January
2015 by Collision from Double Twist (Where’s Pedro x
Tifi) he raced by the Tiger Seven Syndicate and trained
by Jason Mackay from Richmond Vale in New South
Wales. He has raced 32 times for 14 wins and 12
placings. The $75,000 first prize for the Peter Mosman
Classic took his stake earnings to $254,885.
The Classic was first run at Harold Park in 1952
when won by Robin Buchanan. In those days the race
was called the Bi-Annual Classic and remained the same
until 1988 when the GBOTA renamed the Classic
honouring legendary administrator the late Peter
Mosman. Like all other GBOTA features it moved with
the club to Wentworth Park in 1987. Some outstanding
sprinters have won the race over its journey going back
to Miss Oakey (53), Tell You Why (59), Classy Jane (the
dam of Black Top 60), Rokoko (68), The Smoother (70),
Satan’s Legend (78), Tegimi (79), Promises Free (82),
Brother Fox (85), Farmer Wilson (91), How’s The Fort
(92), Worthy Reward (93), Tap Dance (94), Solve The
Puzzle (98), Great Wish (99), Winsome Dollars (2001),
Elite State (2003), Surf Lorian (2004), Tuiaki (2010) and
a trio of Wheeler owned winners Allen Harper, Garrick
Bale and the mighty Xylia Allen before winning again in
2015 with superstar Fernando Bale. Below is the honour

AGRA News
Fantastic Fanta Bale By Racing Queensland Website for AGRA
She provided fans with one of the most dominant
UBET Gold Cup wins in recent memory, and we
could be set to see Fanta Bale ($1.60) do it all again
in the Listed Superstayers Invitational at Albion
Park this week.
The Robert Britton-trained bitch flew from Box 7 and
made it a one-act affair around the 710m Albion Park
circuit, holding off Queensland’s 2016 Nationals
representative.
Big Easy Red (45.80), and Queensland’s darling
of the track, Cyndie’s Magic ($7.10).
In winning, Fanta Bale became the first greyhound to
win Group One races over 500m, 600m and 700m. The
win brought with it $75,000 in prize money and took
her career earnings close to the $800,000 mark.
“She was terrific. It was a copybook
performance,” Britton said.
“I felt she needed to lead to be a good thing. There’s
always that element that another strong dog might run
you down. She seems to know the right nights to begin
well.”
The Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club (BGRC)
on Thursday night released its four-greyhound field for
the 710m Superstayers (June 22), with Fanta Bale listed
to take on Queensland’s darling Cyndie’s Magic, Ebby
Ripper and New South Wales visitor Burn One Down.
For Ebby Ripper, it will be a chance at
redemption after failing to qualify for the Gold Cup
final a fortnight ago. She bounced back on Thursday to
clock 41.81sec – just half-a-length outside Fanta Bale’s
winning Gold Cup time - in an Open 710m race.
Burn One Down has developed into one of the
nation’s premier stayers, winning 26 of his 43 race
starts.
The son of Buck Fever and Fancy Jaffa has
recorded four victories at Group level, including the
Group 1 Zoom Top (725m), the Group 2 Topgun
Stayers (725m), the Group 3 Topcat Video Cup (725m)
and the Group 3 Racecallers (595m).
Cyndie’s Magic is the darling of Queensland
greyhound racing and the social media star has wowed
audiences with her blistering finishes and amazing will
to win. Bill Elson’s daughter of Premier Fantasy and
Regal Silver is still going as strong as ever at well over
4 years of age.
But all three will have a task ahead of them in
trying to chase down Fanta Bale.
Britton said while trainer and greyhound were likely to
return to Brisbane next week, he wouldn’t make his
final decision until Sunday.
“It’s tough to fly three weeks in-a-row. Especially
when you have a stayer that goes to the front and does it
all the way like she did,” he said.
“I’ll want to see that she’s bouncing and taken no
affect from the run. Like all dogs the morning after they
run she’s a little tired today. But we’ll go home and re-
asses on the weekend.”
The other feature of the night was taken by
Brisbane trainer Terry Auckram’s Shoes To Fill, which
prevailed in a thrilling finish to the Flying Amy Classic
(520m).
Fanta Bale is a Black bitch whelped August 2014
by David Bale from Ucme Typhoon (Dodgem By
Design x USS Mysterious). Fanta Bale is raced Paul
Wheeler and trained by Robert Britton.
She has raced 39 times for 25 wins and nine
placings. After adding the $75,250 first prize for the
Gold Cup her stake earnings stand at $797,490. Fourth
on the all-time stakes winning list.
The Gold Cup has been won by some champion
stayers over the years.

SA coursing dates until 30 June are listed below.
The remaining dates for July – September will follow
once allocated.
We start off our season by running 4-dog stakes – which
appeases the track enthusiasts who do not wish to put
their dogs in an 8-dog stake as they don’t believe they
can run 3 times in the one day, even though it should be
remembered that its only 2 dogs that have 3 runs, and
this is certainly not a problem in Victoria.

Melton Now wearing my Melton cap we are looking to the
future when Melton is up and running we can include the
same format Melton to Ballarat Slips to Boxes
Challenge. Moves are a foot for a masterplan now being
finalised for Melton as a training facility with a straight
sand track (like Healesville) plus other extras etc., bull
ring, galloping runs.
We will keep the straight grass track for our local
trainers and for coursing.
Even better if we can implement a drag and trolley
lure on the grass. So exciting times ahead.

Editor,
While GRV is busy re-arranging maiden programs I can
help even more with the dog/race shortage problem.
Immediately, it could eliminate all races shorter
than 350m. Currently between 20% and 60% of
meetings at Cranbourne and Traralgon are in this
category. Perhaps at Healesville as well. Other states
could help by doing the same at Albion Park, Lismore,
Dubbo, Dapto, Richmond, Wentworth Park, Canberra,
Strathalbyn, Launceston, Hobart, Cannington,
Mandurah and Northam.
Those reductions would then allow empty boxes
in longer races to be filled.
There are a number of supporting reasons for such
a policy.
These “over in a flash” events are not good for
customers. People want a bit of a run for their
money.
My guess is that they attract only mug punters. It
is hard to imagine serious punters being
interested.
They are not real races but merely jumping
contests.
They reward poor or poorly-bred dogs.
The breed needs to improve stamina whereas
these races work in the opposite direction.
The plentiful 350m to 425m category readily
caters for short course dogs. Leaving aside
Cranbourne and Traralgon, a current sample
reveals that 42% of provincial races are in that
category.
Should this policy displace a few dogs then imaginative
alternatives should be developed to look after them.
This approach is necessary anyway for dogs which are
never going to be good racers or chasers.
But here’s a separate point on the general shortage
subject. Scratchings at the provincials are far too
common – even including reserves – which leads to the
suspicion that trainers are being urged to put up dogs
when they are not really ready for battle.
A related issue – of welfare importance - is that if
dogs were banned from backing up inside, say, 5 days it
would tend to reduce those scratchings. Racing when
not fully recovered from previous efforts does no good
for either dogs or punters.
Either way, if a reduction in races is the outcome,
so be it. A slight drop in race numbers accompanied by
a higher percentage of full fields would not necessarily
reduce income by very much as exotic betting would be
more popular.

What time was that?
Can anyone at Sandown explain the
rationale behind the current programming
of race programs.
Thursday night's programs start at 6.03 pm and finished
at 10.04 because it's winter?
And yet Sunday's program started at 1.43pm and the last
not run until 5.26pm, leaving everyone a long cold drive
home in the dark, from a day meeting?
I also intend to take up the matter of race times with the
MGRA, 11pm finish on a Saturday night is ridiculous.
It has been suggested that the programming of meetings
these days is more about maximising gambling
opportunities, not concern for greyhounds or their
trainers?

The question was out to Sandown and GRV,
however at the time of going to the website, no
replies had been received.

Greyhound Adoption Day, which aims to find new
homes for retired racing greyhounds, is again
coming to Melbourne on Sunday, 25 June.
The Adoption Day will be held at The Meadows
greyhound racing club, Northcorp Bld, Broadmeadows,
from 11am – 3pm.
The adoption day was very successful when it was held
in Broadmeadows last year, when it smashed the
Australian record for the number of greyhounds re-
homed in a single day. Organisers are hoping to top that
result this time.
Seventy dogs were re-homed at The Meadows event
last year (GAP’s previous record in a single day was
35). This time, about 80 greyhounds will be seeking
their forever homes.
GAP is asking people who wish to attend to register
their interest beforehand by filling in a registration form
on the GAP website at gap.grv.org.au. And, if you are
intending to adopt on the day, please follow the link
and complete the adoption application form which will
help us find the right dog for you. We will send you a
link before 25 June so you can find out more about the
dogs that will be available on the day.
Most of the dogs are retired racing greyhounds, and are
between eighteen months and ten years of age.
GAP Adoption Manager Larissa Darragh said
greyhounds made terrific pets as they are friendly,
docile dogs and, contrary to some assumptions, they
don’t need a lot of exercise.
“They need about 15 minutes of exercise a day, which
is average for a pet dog. It’s fine to just take them for a
walk,” she said.
Like last year’s event at Broadmeadows, this is a
special double adoption day – twice as many dogs as a
normal adoption day (which are held at Greyhound
Racing Victoria’s metro and regional race tracks), with
a morning and afternoon session (instead of just one
session).
Morning Session – 11am to 12:30 pm. Afternoon
Session – 1:15 pm to 3pm.

raced and trained at Ecklin South, by Peter Fulton.
Raced nine times now for one win and two
placings, after having no luck over 515 metres at
Sandown (SAP) on 18 June, beaten 3.6 lengths in the
race won by Lorian Victory (30.42).
Prior to that had consecutive placings over 450 metres
at Ballarat, and is on the improve and worth following.
DESTINI COMET
White & black bitch, September 2015 Djays Octane* x
Miss Abilene), trained at Lethbridge by Janice Rinaldi
for the Riverwalk Syndicate.
Only had two starts and is sure to improve with
experience, after first start third over 525 metres at The
Meadows (MEP) on 7 June, beaten 6.5 lengths in the
race won by Pistachios (30.56), coming from box five,
then fourth over 515 metres at Sandown (SAP) on 18
June, beaten 5.1 lengths in the race won by Eltora

Won’t take her long to get on the winners’ list.
LADY BULLSEYE
White bitch, June 2015, Peter Rocket x Raya Riot)
Raced and trained at Brookfield by Keith Hellmuth.
One win and three placings from her first eleven
starts and is sure to improve with further experience.
Last start second over 595 metres at Sandown
(SAP) on 18 June, from box three when beaten 0.53
lengths in the race won by Cha Ching Ching (35.21).
Unplaced in four starts from 400 metres at
Warragul to 520 metres at Cranbourne prior to that and
did well when stepping up to 595 metres.
Looks like this might be her ideal distance so
follow up.
