New Hope News
May 15,2015
Life provides us with numerous opportunities to celebrate the gifts of God, which are so graciously and lov-ingly rendered unto His servants. It is not uncommon in the halls of our church to hear positive expressions as to life in fellowship with God and one another. Those expressed feelings can be summed up in one single word… Happy! It appears that we, as Christians, have something that relates to our overall perspective on life. When the question is asked of a Christian, “How are you this morning?” The response all too often, affirms a positive, happy feeling about life. “OH! It’s a beautiful day! I’m just lovely! It’s a wonderful day! I’m blessed!” These expressions are often heard among our people.
Happiness, to a Christian, is a condition of heart, mind, spirit, and attitude. It’s knowing that there is some-thing more to life than just going to work, and coming home day in and day out. Our blessings are so abun-dant, and our work reflects the attitudes of joy that were found in the church as it is recorded in the book of Acts chapter 2.
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
We are a God—Blessed congregation! It is apparent that we love the church, love our Savior and love be-ing together to reach out to one another and to our community. Simply put, we have a “BE-HAPPY ATTI-TUDE!” It is visible in all that we do, in worship, fellowship, and service. Maybe you know some one who needs a little happiness….. Invite them to be a part of our fellowship and to grow and develop a “BE Happy Attitude!”

The day of Pentecost is almost upon us. 50 days following the resurrection, the church received the power promised by Jesus, the coming of the Holy Spirit. We, as part of the body, rejoice in this gift of God and can anticipate the movement of the Spirit among us as we come together for worship, prayer, praise and proclamation on May 24th. Make your plans to be part of the celebra-tion of the Birth of the Church!
All members of the Board of New Hope Chris-tian Church should make every effort to be pre-sent for the Bi-Monthly Board meeting. Our next meeting will be Sunday, May 17th at 1:30 PM. If you are an Elder, Diaconate member, Trustee, or committee Chair, then you are en-couraged to make yourself available for this meeting.

The church is shining light in dark places. Since 2001, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has started 850 new Disciples
churches, spreading the gospel to more than 60,000 individuals, who may not have had a relationship with Christ. Each
week 28 languages are spoken in Disciples churches.
This year the Pentecost Offering will be taken on Sundays, May 17 and May 24. Help us spread the light in dark places by loving a growing number of Disciples back to life. Make your gift to the Pentecost Offering today.

Annual “Help Another Mother Diaper Drive”
Again this year, New Hope will be collecting Diapers for Infant Crisis Services. This wonderful
non-profit that offers assistance to parents of at-risk infants and toddlers by providing dia-
pers, formula and other necessities is always in need of donations. So, sometime during the
month of May bring your items and place them in the playpen in the narthex. If you would
like to bring formula instead of (or in addition to) the diapers, they like Gerber’s Good Start.
Check your Sunday paper, they sometimes have coupons for diapers and formula. They also
can use new or gently used baby/toddler clothes, blankets, toys etc. Don’t you agree with In-
fant Crisis Services that “no baby should go hungry”?
You are invited to a Grandparent Baby Shower
