Things To Do!
There are a lot of things to do in
Houston! Houston has major league
sports teams in football, basketball,
baseball and soccer. So if you want
to see the Texans or the rockets or
the Astros at the State of the art
outdoor baseball park this is the
place to be! The Houston Livestock
and Rodeo show is hosted here
annually and the NRG Stadium
hosts events year round.
If art and cultural entertainment is
more for you, you can enjoy Miller
outdoor theatre in Hermann park
with musicals, comedies, childrens
performances,symphony nights and
lots more! The theatre district in
downtown has 3 premiere theatres
in walking distance of each other
and the Hobby Centre for
performing arts is also located close
by.
The museum district is home to 19
museums, including the Museum of
Natural Science, the Museum of
Fine arts, the children’s museum
and the Health Museum, to name a
few. These again are all in walking
distance of each other, or you can
rent a bike. And of course there’s
also the Houston zoo and the
Aquarium too for days out with the
kids!
The Space Centre at Houston
(known as NASA) is a fascinating
day out with the largest collection
of moon rocks and spacesuits on
display anywhere in the world, not
to mention the rockets! This is a
wonderful place to ignite your
childrens' interest in science!
Cities Close By!
Houston has many fun cities within
reach for a daytrip! Austin is a 2
hour drive away, it’s got the Lyndon
B Johnson library & Museum and
the renowned bat population that
emerge from Congress Avenue
Bridge in the evenings if that
interests you!
San Antonio is a 3 hour drive where
you can visit the Alamo, enjoy the
riverwalk. Visit Sea world with the
kids and the Missions National
Historical Park. It’s a beautiful city!
Dallas is also a 3 hour drive with a
plethora of things to do and see.
Houston Weather
From the beginning of June till
October, the weather is likely to be
in the 90’s and you have to
remember one important fact -
Houston is the world capital of air
conditioning!
Houston averages only 18 days per
year with temperatures of 32°F or
less, that is really nice! And then it
averages 99.6 days with high
temperatures of 90°F or more.
Temperatures rarely reach 100°F
but the humidity is what can make
it uncomfortable to be out for any
length of time in mid summer.
