Carolina Opera “Carmen”
Thursday, January 24, 2018
Depart at 6:45 pm
Tickets: $30.00
Belk Theater
Carmen drinks, smokes and gets what
she wants. But her wandering, gypsy spirit
will ultimately prove her undoing. When
she chooses bullfighter Escamillo over Don Jose, she
meets her tragic demise. But, she’s hardly tragic. She
would rather live fully – even dangerously – than play
it safe. Even in death, Carmen is a feminist heroine
for the ages.

Thank you Cypress Volunteer’s
Many thanks to everyone who volunteered for the Attic
and Bake Sales, shopped the sale or purchased donated
treasurers from other members, delicious baked goods or
Cypress cookbooks. The sale was a resounding success,
taking in over $4,700 at the Attic Sale, almost $1,000 at the
Bake Sale and over $2,000 at the Cookbook Sale. The sales
were increased by popular new attractions this year, the
Silent Auction, which brought in over $1,000 of the Attic
Sale total and the Cookbook sales.
The sale benefited several organizations this year. About
$3,300 will be given to the Cypress Friends group for special
projects, almost $1,500 will be given to the Alzheimer’s
Association and almost $1,000 will be given to the attic sale
donors in return for their donations. All money from the sale
of the cookbooks will be donated to the Employees
Appreciation Fund.
If you are interested in buying a cookbook please contact
Frances Barts at 704-372-2805 to purchase yours. She will

7th Annual
“’Round the Table Sing” Led by Bob Ivey with Handbells
Wednesday, December 5, 2018
7:30 pm
Community Hall
For the seventh year
our own Bob Ivey will
lead the Cypress
residents in the old English
tradition of gathering around
tables and singing the familiar
carols and Christmas songs. In
Bob’s lifelong job as a Minister of Music in
three different churches, he organized and led
‘Round the Table Sings for forty-six years.
Beginning on December 5th at 7:30 pm with
the opening handbell procession of Deck the
Hall, the Community Room will resound with
songs from Silent Night to White Christmas to
We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Bob will
lead from the piano and be joined again by
Brad Clark on percussion and Doug Burns on
bass. The Ivey Handbell Ensemble from First
Presbyterian Church will perform two exciting
handbell selections. His is an audience
participation program, fun for all who attend as
we share in the The Twelve Days of
Christmas, Must Be Santa and the surprising
rendition of Jingle Bells. And, wait until you
see who surprises us with chef Adam’s famous
flaming “figgy pudding!”
