FBLA

It's not too late to join Future Business Leaders of America.  If you like fun, participating in

community service projects,  competitive events or just want to engage in leadership

opportunities, FBLA is for you.  We are preparing for Region Competition and are looking for competitors in business events, computer skills and performance events to

include public speaking and many more.  Stop by room 112 to pick up an application. 

Football

The Varsity Football Team plays Peachtree Ridge on Friday at 7:30 PM. Be sure to

buy your tickets ahead of time, as we are expecting a sold-out crowd.

Turkey Drive

The Key Club will be collecting during ADVISEMENT for the annual Turkey

Drive. The drive will run through Nov.16th. Each year the club collects money to

purchase Thanksgiving meals for people in our community. We will feed over 700 people this Thanksgiving. Remember to bring in whatever money you can for this

project.

Cross-Country

Congratulations to the boys and girls for qualifying for the state championships coming up this

Saturday in Carrollton. In muddy conditions, the boys came in 4th and made it through with some good racing by all 7

varsity runners. The girls knocked off 8-time defending champions Collins Hill for the region

championship....barely edging them by 7 points. The boys race at 8:30 a.m. and the girls race at

9:00 a.m. on Saturday in the state championships. 

Roller Dogs

The North Gwinnett Roller Dogs roller hockey team beat the Milton Eagles this weekend in overtime with a score of 8-7. Tyler Kostun got the winning goal 14 seconds in to overtime!  Tyler Kostun

and Cody Ballas also each had hat tricks in the game. The next game is Saturday, November 14 @8:00 PM at

the Cooler in Alpharetta against South Forsyth. 

Mix It Up

On November 10, choose another seat at lunch and meet new people. North

Gwinnett joins nearly 900 other schools in Georgia for "Mix It Up"--a simple way to

make new friends and build school unity. 

Cheerleading Competition

Come support the NGHS competition Cheerleaders at Region this Saturday,

11/7  @ 1:30pm. Loganville High School 

Theater Dept.

Our next very exciting production is the 30/60 play festival, Thursday November 12th at 7PM. 30 (entirely student written)

plays, performed in 60 mintues. The order that the plays are performed is chosen by

YOU, the audience, and there will be a stopwatch to ensure that the performers stay within the time limit! Join us for a fun

evening.

Concert

This Saturday night the Black and Red Newspaper staff and Relay for Life are teaming up for a

fundraiser. The event will be a benefit concert featuring 2 of North Gwinnett's own bands

(Concept Squad and Arrow and the Song) and a solo performance by sophomore Dillon Boscoe.

It will be held from 7-9 in the commons area. Tickets are $3 and will be sold during all 3

lunches Thursday and Friday. Tickets will also be sold at the door. 

Spanish Film

The Spanish Honorary will be hosting for the membership the premiere of the acclaimed film, El Norte by Gregory Nava, filmed on

location in Central America, Mexico and in the United States, showing the plight of desperate people trying to make the dangerous journey to

the land of hope in the United States.  The showing will be Friday, November 13, 2009 at

2:20 in Room 815.  Refreshments will be served.  The film will run 2 hours and 30 minutes.

BETA Club

This year’s annual NGHS BETA Club Walk-a-thon is Saturday, November 14th from 10am-2pm. There will be a variety of activities including

music, concessions, and face painting from the National Art Honor Society students. All

proceeds for the event will go to the National Urea Cycle Disorder Foundation/Croy's Cause and to Samaritan’s Purse. Please join BETA, Student Councel and NAHS in support of this worthy cause and walk a few laps around the

track. This event is open to all students as well, so spread the word! 

Ice Dogs

On Monday November 9th come out to the Suwanee Chick-fil-A Restaurant at Moore

Road and Peachtree Industrial Blvd to support your North Gwinnett Ice Dogs.

The Team fund-raiser runs from 5 PM to 8 PM. A portion of receipts goes to support

the Ice Dogs 

Hockey

The Hockey Team beat Peachtree Ridge 4-1. The next game is Wednesday

November 11th vs. Brookwood. Game time is 9:30 PM at the Duluth Ice Forum. Come on out and support your Ice Dogs!
