Andrew Gilligan
Cycling Commissioner
Andrew was born in London and educated at Grey Court School, Richmond, Kingston College of Further Education and Cambridge University. As a journalist he has worked for the London Evening Standard, Channel 4, the Today Programme and The Spectator. He will continue to work part time as a reporter for the Daily and Sunday Telegraph newspapers. Andrew has won various awards for his journalism, including Journalist of the Year at the British Press Awards. As a journalist and blogger, Andrew has written extensively about the need for improved cycle facilities. He devised and launched the Evening Standard’s 2007 ‘Safer Cycling’ campaign.
Yair Ginor Director, Lipton Rogers Developments
Yair is an equity partner and Director of Lipton Rogers Developments, responsible for originating and overseeing the delivery of large-scale development projects. Prior to LRD he was at Chelsfield Partners where he led developments totalling over £1.5bn value, including Elizabeth House, Waterloo and Hawley Wharf at Camden Lock. Yair holds an Mphil in Real Estate Finance from the University of Cambridge and a B.Arch in Architecture. He is a visiting lecturer in the Said Business School, Oxford University as well as the department of Land Economy in Cambridge.
Henk Bouwman
Director, Academy of Urbanism
Henk established his own urbanism practice UiP urban producers in 1998, that specialises in managing urban change and innovation in Places of Connection: city centers and station districts in Europe and Asia. Urban-imPulse is based in London and the Netherlands. Henk is currently working for the Independent Transport Commission ITC consulting on the spatial impact of High Speed Rail on UK cities. Next he is leading a scenario study on UK Rail 2065 for the Forseight programme for the Government Office for Science. And he is working on how to implement cycling in UK streets! He has held a number of academic posts and is currently teaching at the Academies in Amsterdam and Tilburg and he is director of the Academy of Urbanism in London. He is MSc in Architecture and Urbanism from the University of Technology in Delft (NL). @theAoU

Roger Hawkins
Partner, Hawkins\Brown
Roger founded Hawkins\Brown with Russell Brown in 1988 and is recognised as one of the leading architects in the UK. Roger is a people person. His ability to see things from the client’s viewpoint and to get into the mindset of users is key to the way Hawkins\Brown practices architecture. He is a firm believer that good architecture needs to address a social agenda and is always keen to promote user needs and aspirations. He sees an opportunity in everything and uses this to raise the ambitions of those around him. @hawkins_brown
Brian Deegan Principal Technical Specialist - Cycling, Transport for London
Brian is a technical specialist in cycling at Transport for London. He was one of the lead authors of the London Cycling Design Standards and has been at the forefront of cycle infrastructure design for many years. His main role is to ensure design quality for all the elements of the Mayor’s Vision for Cycling programme including Quietways, Central London Grid, Mini Holland’s and Superhighways. Kelly Clark Head of Quietways, Sustrans
Kelly has spent the last 12 years working in transport and logistics including 6 years planning and delivering transport services for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. She is part of the Sustrans London team working to make London a better place to live by enabling more people to make their everyday journeys by cycling or walking. Sustrans are TfL’s delivery agent for the Quietways programme, working with Boroughs and Managing Authorities to plan, design and deliver Quietway routes throughout London. @sustranslondon
Rosie Downes Campaigns Manager, London Cycling Campaign
Founded in 1978, London Cycling Campaign is a charity that ensures everyone who cycles, or wants to cycle, has a voice. It is the capital’s leading cycling organisation with more than 40,000 members and supporters. Prior to joining London Cycling Campaign, Rosie held positions at Living Streets, the national charity that stands up for pedestrians, and CTC, the national cyclists’ organisation. She was recently named one of BikeBiz magazine’s Women in Cycling 2015. @rosannadownes @london_cycling

Mike Hussey
Chairman, CICC and CEO, Almacantar
Mike is a Fellow of RICS and is recognised as one of the key experts in the Central London property market. He is a prolific developer, responsible for some of the landmark schemes built in the capital in the last 20 years. Before founding Almacantar, Mike spent seven years at Land Securities plc where he was an Executive Board Director with responsibility for the London portfolio and Strategic Land portfolio. Prior to Land Securities, Mike was responsible for all property transactions at the Canary Wharf Group, as Head of Leasing and Marketing. @Mr_Property_W1
Ben Kennedy Principal Transport Planner, LB Hackney
Ben has 15 years’ experience working on highways, transport, environmental and urban improvement schemes in London in both the public and private sectors. He has spent the past 8 years at Hackney delivering the Council’s transport policies and projects. @greenerhackney

Managing Director, Phil Jones Associates
Phil is a Chartered Engineer with around 30 years’ experience in traffic engineering, transport planning and urban design. In recent years Phil has been involved in many cycling initiatives, including editing the Welsh Government’s Active Travel Design Guidelines and is a member of the DfT’s Cycle Proofing Working Group. @Phil_PJA

Tass is Chief Executive of inmidtown Business Improvement District and has worked across the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors specializing in business development, turnaround, and growth. Peter Murray
Chairman, New London Architecture and Finalist for Cycling Champion of the Year
Peter serves as the Chairman of NLA. Trained as an architect, he was an editor of Building Design and RIBA Journal before starting Blueprint in 1983. He has curated a number of major architectural exhibitions and is Chairman of the communications consultancy Wordsearch. He is founder of both NLA and the London Festival of Architecture and is author of various architectural books including “The saga of Sydney Opera House” and “A passion to build”. He is a visiting professor of IE University in Madrid and Hon. Sec. of the Bedford Park Society. @PGSMurray

Founding Director, River Cycleway Consortium Ltd
With experience spanning the international space, creative, entertainment, and education industries, Anna has established herself as a highly regarded leader and creative strategist in sustainable and user-centered design products and services. With a dedicated commitment to the social, humanitarian and environmental vision, Hill partnered with renowned architect David Nixon and established the UK environmental firm River Cycleway Consortium Ltd. in 2012. In a collaboration they initiated in 2008, the duo applied their expertise to conceptualize and develop the recently proposed and critically acclaimed “Thames Deckway Project,” a clean-energy generating floating cycle path and flood emergency relief system backed by Britain’s leading engineering firm Arup and Hugh Broughton Architects. @Thames_Deckway

New Ideas for Housing London - deadline for entries: 5pm on Friday 7 August NLA is inviting submissions to a major new ideas competition, in partnership with the Mayor of London, to find fresh thinking on how to unlock London’s housing supply and deliver more homes. We are looking for a range of innovative ideas, big and small, from solutions for planning policy, land & funding to construction, procurement & design.
The competition is free and open for anyone to enter. Winning entrants will be invited to join a high-level GLA working group to explore how their ideas could be delivered on a real London site. All winning and shortlisted ideas will be showcased in a three-month NLA exhibition and publication, and presented to key government representatives and London Mayoral candidates.
