Question Essential!

• What is noise pollution?

Words that will help us answer the question!

• Decibel- a dimensionless unit used for values on a scale.

• Intensity the rate that energy is transferred through a unit area of the plane wave.

• Threshold- minimum of sound level of a pure tone that an average ear with normal hearing can hear with no other sound present.

• Threshold of pain- the point in which pain begins to be felt.

Noise Pollution is…

• A loud noise interrupting someone’s regular sound waves. (unwanted or uncomfortable sound to the ear)

How does decibel relate to it?

• Decibel- a dimensionless unit used for values on a scale.

Noise Pollution…

Depends on the decibel! Noise needs to react a certain decibel to be considered noise pollution!

How does intensity relate to it?

• Intensity- the rate that energy is transferred through a unit area of the plane wave.

Noise pollution…

• Is affected by the intensity because that predicts what the sound is going to be. If there is great intensity than the noise will be bigger!

How does threshold relate to it?

• Threshold- minimum of sound level of the pure tone that an average ear with normal hearing can hear average with no other sound present.

Noise pollution…

• Can pass what is called a threshold, which is the comfortable sound level.

How does threshold of pain relate to it?

• Threshold of pain- the point in which pain beings to be felt.

Noise pollution

• Can sometimes go past the threshold of pain!

What are some examples of noise pollution?

Examples!• A phone• Sirens• A plane taking off• A book being slammed• A balloon popping • Someone screaming• A loud clap• DJ or a band• Dog barking • Car blasting music

The effects of noise pollution.• Deaf• Lack of sleep• Irritability• Indigestion• Heartburn• High blood pressure• Ulcers• Heart disease• Paranoid

The governments actions!

• Enforcing laws and starting awareness programs!...Such as…

• Noise Off and etc.

Ways my peers and I can help!

• Stop playing around so much and scaring people.

• Stop being so loud (just in general)• For performances, the sound level could be

lower.• Not play music so loud in the car or house.• …MUCH MORE.!
