Guiding Principles for Nora Sterry Elementary

School Successful Students School-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support

These are the rules that Sterry Successful Students follow to

learn, play, and have fun.

• Follow the instructions of any school staff member with courtesy

• Demonstrate respect towards all staff members and others and be able to consider the feelings of any individual

• Be able to resolve problems verbally and with consideration

• Exercise courtesy and good manners during eating times

Avoid problems by thinking first. Do not use bad words,

gestures, or fight.

1. Enter and leave quietly.

2. Sit quietly with your back against the chair.

3. Show your appreciation only with appropriate applause.

4. Talking is not permitted during the presentation or performance.

Outside of Class Rules

1. Obey all of our school

rules.

2. Respect our school’s

property.

3. Be quiet around

classes.

4. Walk only, no running.

5. ONLY Principal

approved items may

be sold.

6. Always have a pass.

7. Report problems to an

adult.

Yard Rules

Play Zone

1. Use the restrooms and drinking fountains during recess

and lunch before the bell rings.

2. Stay in your play area and use all equipment properly.

3. Obey the yard supervisors at all times.

4. When the bell rings, immediately stop playing. At the

whistle, walk to your class lines and wait for your teacher.

5. No students are allowed in the office or walkways without

referrals. Be Responsible

Eat quietly in the Cafeteria

1. Clean your table area before you leave.

2. Walk to and from the cafeteria or play area. NO RUNNING !!!

3. Don’t take food out of the cafeteria area.

4. Second Chance Breakfast is only for students that arrive late.

Lunchtime and Eating Rules

• Stand in line and wait your turn to be served.

• Remain quiet while eating food.

• Observe proper eating manners. Food is to be eaten and not played with or thrown.

• Follow all Adult directions.

REPORT Bullies

1. Take responsibility for being

safe at school.

2. Do not engage or contribute

to bullying behaviors.

3. Be sensitive to how others

might see your actions or

words.

4. Report bullying behavior to an

adult.

5. Never retaliate. Create a

positive place and report

problems.

6. Play fair and treat others the

way you want to be treated.

1. Only eat healthy snacks at

recess. No Hot Chips ever!!

2. Always cross at a crosswalk.

3. Do not leave the school without

permission or your teacher,

parents or the Principal.

4. Do not talk to strangers.

5. Remember to recycle cans and

water bottles in the blue bins.

6. Title IX Managers

REPORT STRANGERS TO YOUR

TEACHERS OR ADULTS YOU

KNOW ON CAMPUS

are Healthy and Safe

1. Do not Play in the Restrooms. Keep your feet on the floor!

2. Do not loiter around the restrooms.

3. Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water before leaving.

4. Help to keep our restrooms clean.

Sterry Successful Students Stay Healthy

• Use the Dracula method to cover their coughs and sneezes.

• Wash their hands long enough to sing Happy Birthday, then rinse them.

• If they have a fever, remember to stay home.

every individual. We will take turns and share.
