Strategic Formation

Based upon our last meeting, our plan focused on the following areas:

1. PrintED certified Programs2. PrintED certified Teachers3. PrintED aligned curriculum

5. Articulation with community colleges and universities.

4. PrintED certification test or NCDPI Assessment complied from vendors will be used as EOC for courses.

Strategic Formation1. PrintED certified Programs

All North Carolina High School Printing Graphic Program will become PrintED certified as required by the State Board of Education within a three year period.

Strategic Formation2. PrintED certified Teachers

All North Carolina High School Printing Graphic Teachers will become PrintED certified as required by the State Board of Education within a three year period.

Strategic Formation3. PrintED Aligned Curriculum

All North Carolina High School Printing Graphic programs will use outside vendor curriculum that is aligned with the PrintED Standards. This will be written into the new CTE Standard Course of Study.

Strategic FormationProposed NCDPI-PrintED curriculum

Introduction to Graphic Communications

Offset PressOperations

Binding and Finishing

Digital File Preparation

Advertising and Design

In this model there is one basic course and then the student/LEA has the choice which area of Printing Graphics to pursue. LEAs that have lots of press equipment that is industry acceptable may opt to offer the Offset Press Operations and Binding and Finishing course. Programs that do not have industry acceptable press equipment may choose to go the Digital File Preparation and Advertising and Design route.

Strategic Formation

Due to cost associated with PrintED, the certification test is optional. A NCDPI statewide assessment will be created by using vendor curriculum test items to create a validated secure Post-Assessment item bank. A Post-assessment test will be created by NCDPI for each course and follow the normal NCDPI process.

4. PrintED certification test or NCDPI Assessment complied from vendors will be used as EOC for courses.

Strategic Formation

Community College articulation process:

5. Articulation with community colleges and universities.

1. Students must pass each course with a grade of a “B” and must take and pass the PrintED certification for that course.

2. Students must be admitted into the program to get the articulated credit.

Strategic Formation

University articulation process:5. Articulation with community colleges and universities.

1. Students must pass each course with a grade of a “B” and must take and pass the PrintED certification for that course.

2. Students must be admitted into the program to get the articulated credit.

3. Students must submit request for “credit by exam” from instructor and pay fee. The PrintED certification will take the place of the Teacher generated exam.
