SECONDARYJohn Batcabe, Wooster High School

Investigation of Water

1. Observe the properties of water on wax

paper and on a penny using an eyedropper.

2. Paper Clips on water surface using forceps.

3. How many pennies can an aluminum foil boat hold? A contest.

4. Water temp with ice in Celsius degree. Encourage low temperature minimum.

5. Water temp with ice and salt (oC). Suggest careful stirring.

6. Ice melting time in water; before and after temperatures of system (oC).

7. Hot vs. cold: food coloring droplet dissolution comparison in glass bottles..

8.  Dry ice investigation on glass dish and in water. Discuss the use of caution.

9.  Capillary tube and colored liquid observation with time measurement.
