NORTHGATE NEIGHBORHOOD GREENWAYWhat’s a neighborhood greenway?Neighborhood greenways are safer, calmer residential streets for you, your family, and neighbors. We make people walking and biking the priority.
Neighborhood greenways can include:• 20 mph speed limit signs• speed humps to calm traffic• stop signs for side streets crossing the neighborhood greenway• signs and pavement markings to help people find their way• easier crossings of busy streets with crosswalks, flashing beacons, or
traffic signals• segments of protected bike lanes or off-street trails where residential
streets aren’t available
ROUTE OPTIONSThe Northgate Neighborhood Greenway will connect people walking and biking between 1st Ave NE—where major transportation investments are in the pipeline—and the neighborhoods to the east.
The Northgate Link light rail station is set to open in 2021, and to get you there and beyond we’re planning to build several projects to improve walking and biking, including the Northgate Neighborhood Greenway. We’ve proposed 3 route options for the neighborhood greenway and would like your feedback on the destinations you and your family visit and the routes you prefer.
The Northgate Neighborhood Greenway is included in our Bicycle Master Plan, which gives us a 20-year road map to a citywide bike network. The project is scheduled to be designed in 2018 and constructed in 2020, before the Link station opens.
