Notes on downsizing newspaper clips scanned and originally saved as 600 dpi-.tiff files for uploading on UPSpace

Open image file in Photoshop

Mark the current resolution and size down to 300 pixels/inch by using -

Image > image size >

Set the color as RGB : Image > mode > RGB color

Click on the icon on the right and send the file to the Image Ready programme

Descew the image: Image > Rotate canvas > arbitrary

Set the ruler for display in photoshop: View > Ruler

Drag the ruler down to a point where comfortable in the image for descewing

Erase any marks that interfere with the quality of the image.

Use the eraser, clone or any other tool you find handy for this purpose

Open a .jpeg folder and save the working document files (.psd) as well as the .jpeg files under this folder.

The Quality Controller will delete the .psd files after the quality control was done on the images.

Only the jpeg files will be kept and burned on the CD-R .

Downsize the width to 500 - or a comfortable viewing size

Use crop tool to crop of all excess parts of the image

Set the optimize option as shown

This image was send back to photoshop to work on the pixelation of the image.

The following method was used:

Filter > Noise > Add noise

Filter > Noise > Dust and Scratches

Save as a .psd file and send to Image Ready

Do not interfere with the original image, but clean the outer parts of the image by using the tools you find handy for this purpose.

Take off the ruler line by

View > extras

In Image Ready: Set the contrast automatically

Image > Adjustments > Auto Contrast

If necessary: To lighten the image more use Image > Adjustments > Brightness/contrast and set to a level that looks best

In Image Ready

File > Save optimized as > (Save as type: .jpg)
