Democracy’s greatest ally is an educated voter. That is why the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce hosted three political debates over the past several weeks.
We’ve done our part, and now it’s time to do yours. Voting in Tuesday’s election is more than just a responsibility.
When you help us turn out the vote, you help turn up the volume on the issues important to you in City
Hall, Fiscal Court, Frankfort and Washington, DC.
It will be a “longer than usual” ballot, with some races listed on the back of the ballots.
You may see a sample ballot online at www.DaviessCountyClerk.org or call 270-685-8434, ext. 3 for answers to any questions relating to the election.

Adam Edelen was sworn in as Kentucky’s 46th Auditor of Public Ac-counts in January 2012. He has kept his promise of serving as a vigorous taxpayer watchdog, bringing historic reform to a $2.7 billion layer of govern-ment, tackling fraud and abuse in our public schools, holding big insurance companies ac-countable and more.
Prior to taking office, Adam served as director of the Kentucky Of-fice of Homeland Security and then as chief of staff to Gov. Steve Beshear. He credits his successes in government to the leadership skills he learned in the private sector as an entrepreneur and executive.
As a senior executive with both Commerce Lexington and Thomas &
King, Inc., Adam became an expert in making businesses and organizations
more efficient, profitable and accountable.
Adam also has a proven record of community service. He is a former chairman of the board of KET, Lexington Urban League and United Way of the Bluegrass’ Annual Giving Campaign. Additionally, he was a member of the Prichard Com-
mittee for Academic Excellence.Born to a farm family in rural Ken-
tucky, he learned the values of integri-ty, hard work and common sense – and he has never forgotten them. Adam also is part of a new generation of lead-ers who are more focused on outcomes and honest and effective government than partisan politics.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and anyone standing in line at 6 p.m. will be eligible to vote on Tuesday. All registered voters living in the city or county can vote for all three county commission races.
City residents can vote for up to four city commissioner candidates.
Don’t forget to bring a driver’s license, credit card, social security card or a government issued I.D. with a picture with you.
And we ask you to bring one more thing to the polls -- a friend who is also registered to vote. Let’s turn up the volume, Owensboro!
