Once upon a Homecoming
This past week was UNT’s homecoming week!!! We have all been busy preparing for Yell
like Hell, where we perform our dance, making a banner, chalking up the campus, and
most importantly pomping our lives away. This year we were paired with Sigma Chi and
Alpha Phi Alpha. We spent countless hours at the Sigma Chi house putting together our
float and hoping for the best. The week was filled with exciting events!!! Our banner
looked awesome and so did our dance, and the chalking that we did on campus won 1st
place!! For many of us there were few hours of sleep, but in the end it was worth it! A
huge thank you to everyone who helped out with the dance and banner and chalking and
a SPECIAL thank you to Amanda Allen, (homecoming chair) who kept a smile on all week
long, even when things got hard.
Senior Spotlight: Rebecca Cabello
Transferring to a new school can be hard for some, I know
from personal experience that it is not always the easiest thing
to do. In the Spring of 2011 our chapter held a crowning
event where we all met our very own senior Rebecca. She was
a transfer from Texas State, but a Zeta transfer from UTSA.
Rebecca’s journey in Zeta is a little different from most of
ours. She joined Zeta Fall 2009 as a founding mother for the
Lambda Gamma chapter at UTSA. She came to our chapter
with an open mind and was ready to instill her knowledge and
love of Zeta with many of us. She came here to show us all
that even though you end your journey somewhere you did
not begin it, it can still mean the same or even more to you.
She has shown us how to laugh at the small things, how to
stand up for what is right, and how to enjoy every second of
every day.
Rebecca will be leaving UNT in May and will be continuing
her education in nursing school. She hopes to become a
nurse anesthetists in the future and hopes to move back and
settle in Dallas. We are completely sad to see her leave but
know that she will do phenomenal things in the future.
This year we held our very first Yogurt Eating Contest and it was a huge success!!!! We had over 40 teams and a bunch of supporters who just came to watch. There were different heats, but everyone competed in the same challenges. The first challenge was to see who could chug 2 yogurts the fastest, the second was a taste test, then we had a competition to see which team could pull off the most pink lids in 90 seconds, we had a tower challenge to see who could build the highest tower with yogurts, and then the final round was who could eat the most yogurt in 1 minuet. Our winners were one of our very own new members and her boyfriend!!! We collected over 700 lids and provided fun for everyone!!!!

Pink of the Football Game
On October 16th we went out to Apogee Stadium
with some of our alum and “thought pink” at
the game. We set up a tent and were able to
pass out pink ribbons to everyone including
ESPN crew who was there to tape the game. It
was a great night to share our philanthropy
with everyone and the Mean Green even got a
win!!!
