TheCouncilsonEpidemiology&Prevention(EPI)andNutrition,PhysicalActivity&Metabolism(NPAM)jointlyplantheEPI/NPAMSpring2013ScientificSessions.Thesessionsfocusonobesity,nutrition,physicalactivity,genetics,metabolism,biomarkers,riskfactors,subclinicaldisease,clinicaldisease,healthypopulations,globalhealthandpreventionclinicaltrials.Theprogramalsohighlightsstrategiestotranslateadvancesinbasicandclinicalscienceintoeffortstopromotecardiometabolichealthinboththeclinicalandpopulationsetting.

Theprogramincludespresentationsofnewhigh-quality,high-impactresearch;itisorganizedaroundoral,moderatedposters,andposterabstractpresentations,withspecialtranslationalsciencelecturesanddebatesoncurrentissuesrelevanttocardiometabolichealthandpreventivecardiology.Thisformatisintendedtomaximizetheopportunitiesforthought-provokinginteractionacrossawidespectrumofscientists,includingjuniorinvestigatorsaswellasseniorresearchers.Thesessionsaredesignedtoenhancethecareersofyoungandearlymid-careerinvestigatorsandpractitionerscommittedtothepromotionofcardiometabolichealth.Thesessionsemphasize1)translationalscience,2)populationscience,and3)interdisciplinaryapproachestothedevelopmentandapplicationofknowledgerelatedtothepromotionofcardiometabolichealth.Asaresult,theEPI/NPAMSpring2013ScientificSessionsareuniqueincontentandformat;and,thesessionsaredesignedtopromoteeffortstoachievetherecently-describedAHA2020StrategicGoals.
