Nobody’s Perfect Product Overview
Dear Valued Customer,
Two years ago we launched RocketBladez, the first iron with the Speed Pocket. The Speed Pocket was revolutionary for the iron category as it unlocked the rigidity of the face to allow it to flex more eliminating what we call hot spots allowing the iron to perform with increased consistency in launch, spin and most importantly, distance control.
We’ve realised from extensive research through R&D and Performance Labs that 76% of golfer’s miss-hit the ball and with the Speed Pocket we realised this significantly improved strikes low on the face, but golfers also miss it on the heel and toe which got us thinking, what if we added slots to the face?
The ‘R’ Series is synonymous with TaylorMade since the original R500 series of metalwoods. ‘R’ has always been the heart, soul & identity of our obsession with making golfers better. It signifies premium quality and unparalleled performance not only in metalwoods but also within the iron category.
We are very pleased to introduce the all new RSi iron family from TaylorMade Golf, the first iron ever to incorporate Face Slot Technology represented with three new models, RSi 1, RSi 2 & RSi Tour Preferred.
“We’ve taken everything we’ve learnt about Speed Pocket Technology and have been able to apply it into the face. Face Slot Technology provides greater consistency across the face, giving players improved performance on miss-hits. And you can only find Face Slots in RSi irons”- Tomo Bystedt. Director of Product Creation, Irons.
RSi 1 is your ultimate distance iron with unmatched consistency delivered with Face Slots located from 3 through to 8 irons. The two slots located on the heel and toe of the clubface provide uniform flexion across the face protecting ball speed on off-centre hits toward the heel and toe.
The RSi 1 also features Speed Pocket with Thru-Slot Technology which protects ball speed on miss-hits below the centre of the face.
RSi 2 is where distance meets playability. The RSi 2 iron set provides the ideal blend of performance and beauty. Featuring Face Slot Technology from 3 through 8 irons and Speed Pocket with Thru-Slot Technology for unparalleled consistency across the entire face, the RSi 2 irons also include progressive Multi-Material Construction ensuring each iron is individually engineered to deliver performance on each iron where you need it most with souring long irons and great feel and workability in the short irons.
RSi Tour Preferred was designed to take our Tour Professionals to the next level incorporating Face Slot Technology for more uniform flexion across the face which protects ball speed and generates more ball speed on off centre hits towards the heel and toe delivering ultimate consistency and distance control, exactly what better player’s demand in an iron.
In addition to Face Slot Technology, the RSi Tour Preferred irons feature Speed Pocket technology for added consistency on strikes low on the face. This iron is as much about performance as it is about feel being a Tour Preferred product- the RSi TP iron also features advanced two piece welded construction for amazing feel and performance. Forged carbon steel is located on the face and hosel and forms and alliance with a stainless steel back bar which preserves the undercut and forms the Speed Pocket ensuring ideal mass properties.
Please find attached in this document all information relating to the new RSi irons and we also thank you for your continued support of this revolutionary new iron product.
Kind regards, TaylorMade-adidas Golf Pacific

LIE ANGLE AND LENGTH ARE RELATED Always optimise the player’s lie angle after the length of the shaft has been determined. It’s important to understand that club length affects an iron’s effective lie angle. For every ½” you add or subtract, the lie angle will be affected by 1° In rare cases when the extreme lie angles of 4° upright or 4° flat don’t allow the player to achieve level impact, adjusting the shaft length is essential.
*If the player doesn’t know the length of his or her clubs, refer to the chart below.
Tall Player Stooped
Short Player Upright
Athletic Position
APPLYING THE ART & SCIENCEThe Art: The golfer must feel comfortable and confident at the setup position.
The Science: The correct shaft length is necessary for the player to strike the ball solidly and provide optimised consistent distance and direction.
TUNING IRON LENGTH
Custom Fitting Guidelines - Irons
Pg 17
OPTIMISING LIE ANGLELie angle affects the ball flights start direction and curvature. By adjusting the lie angle, the tuner changes where the face is pointed at impact and how the club interacts with the turf, which can have significant impact on consistent direction.
TUNING LIE ANGLE
FINE-TUNE THE SHAFTThe correct shaft helps the golfer find the centre of the clubface more consistently and has a profound affect on the overall feel of the club.
SHAFT TYPEShafts are offered in four main categories: tour weight steel, lightweight steel, tour weight graphite and lightweight graphite. A good rule of thumb is to recommend the weighted shaft the player finds most comfortable. This shaft will help maintain swing balance consistency and distance. If the player enjoys the feel of steel but could benefit from a lighter weight shaft, explore lightweight steel. Most lightweight steel shafts feature low kick points, play softer overall and may produce a higher ball flight than heavier steel. Graphite dampens vibration significantly, making it a good choice for players with chronically sore wrists, elbows or shoulders.
SHAFT SELECTION GUIDELINES
Quick Tempo Heavier, stiffer options than indicated by swing speed
Smooth Tempo Lighter, softer flexes than indicated by swing speed
Reduce Spin Stiffer tip or stronger flex
Reduce Launch Stiffer tip, heavier weight or stiffer flex
Increase Spin Softer tip, softer flex, lighter weight
Increase Launch Softer tip, softer flex, lighter weight
Reduce Fade Spin Axis Softer tip, softer flex, lighter weight
Reduce Draw Spin Axis Stiffer tip, stiffer flex, heavier weight
* Consider lighter shafts when going over length (+1”) to maintain acceptable swing
TUNING SHAFT TYPE
TOE-UP IMPACT: Ground contact toward heel Hard to hit high centre face Tilted (draw) spin axis Need flatter lie
LEVEL IMPACT: Ground contact at centre Easy to hit high centre face Level (straight) spin axis No adjustment needed
TOE-DOWN IMPACT: Ground contact toward toe Hard to hit high centre face Tilted (fade) spin axis Need upright lie

FLEXFinding the correct shaft flex is essential in helping the player find optimal consistent distance and direction. The chart below will help you get started.
APPLYING THE ART AND SCIENCEThe Art: Explain that the shafts weight, flex, torque, and bend profile can all drastically change the clubs feel. It is most important the golfer has a shaft that suits the players desired feel and personal preference.
The Science: The correctly tuned shaft will help maximise ball speed, spin rate and launch angle by producing shots the are struck solid.

MADE OF
2015 METAL WOODS 3
Dear Valued Customer,
2014 delivered a number of memorable moments related to the game of golf. It has also shown each and every one of us the highs, lows and emotion that epitomize what we love about this sport.
At TaylorMade, our golf season isn’t coming to an end. Instead, it’s ramping up to ensure we’re in the best position to begin the 2015 season with positive momentum. So whether your goal is winning an event on the PGA TOUR or breaking 90, we want to help you achieve it.
Innovation is the genesis of everything we do at TaylorMade Golf. Whether it’s our metalwoods, irons, wedges or golf balls, we’re relentlessly striving to design, produce and deliver the most innovative, high-performance products to allow you, the golfer, to achieve your goals.
We are excited to reveal what we think will be yet another pivotal moment in the history of TaylorMade with the launch of our newest metalwood lineup; derived from two franchises with storied history in the game and for our brand: R15 and AeroBurner.
Fifteen years after the first R Series driver was introduced and 15 years of ground breaking metalwoods technologies from the #1 driver in golf have led us to a driver made of greatness: R15. Engineered for and played by the best players in the world including Sergio Garcia, Jason Day and Justin Rose, the R15 is designed to bring out the best in all of us. We’ve put everything we’ve got into R15 - so you can find what you’ve got in you.
Another iconic franchise in our company’s history is revitalized with the introduction of AeroBurner. In golf, the name Burner is synonymous with speed and speed equals distance, so we’ve completely redesigned AeroBurner to be the fastest, most aerodynamic product we’ve ever made.
To ensure we’re releasing the best product we possibly can, we’ve worked closer than ever with our PGA TOUR athletes on both R15 and AeroBurner, and their feedback has everyone here excited about what’s to come in 2015. With our Tour players eager to put them in their bags, we’re confident that once you hit them for yourself, you will feel the same.
Come January 9, 2015, whether you decide on R15 or AeroBurner, you can be confident that you’ll be putting our most innovative technologies into your bag.
On behalf of the entire TaylorMade team, play well.

CUSTOM FIT TING GUIDELINESTUNED PERFORMANCE
AN INTRODUCTION TO TUNED PERFORMANCE TaylorMade makes high-performance golf equipment engineered to help every level of player play better. Since our founding in 1979 we’ve focused on developing innovative technologies that make it easier to launch the ball faster, longer, more easily and with greater control. In addition, we offer an assortment of club models and options to suit every performance level, and swing style.
We’ve gained a wealth of knowledge from our Tour Team, which has for years travelled to nearly every PGA Tour event to tune Tour pros for our equipment and build it for them on the spot. Several members have spent a lifetime circling the globe to adjust and service products for the best players in the world. Our Tour Team’s knowledge and experience was invaluable to the creation of our Tuned Performance philosophy and values.
OUR TUNED PERFORMANCE PHILOSOPHY The golfer comes first in every Tuned Performance session at any level. We asked TaylorMade’s longest standing Tour Rep what “Tuned Performance” meant to him. His answer: “A qualified Tuner/Fitter understands that optimising golf equipment is part art, part science”.
The art of tuning focuses on look, feel, sound, trajectory and workability, and relies heavily on the Tuner’s communication skills. The science lies in data-driven performance parameters, such as how the golfer presents the clubhead to the ball at impact (club data), and how that affects ball flight (ball data).
When the art and science of Tuned Performance are executed at the highest level, the player is the recipient of equipment that inspires confidence and optimises performance.
TUNED PERFORMANCE VS. CUSTOM FITTING Traditionally, selecting custom clubs for a player has been called Custom fitting. Fitting, however, emphasizes only size and shape. A suit is fitted, as it must be the right size and shape to be comfortable and look good. However, when it comes to TaylorMade Golf equipment, selecting the best equipment for a player is much more about optimising performance than it is about making things the right size and shape.
Tuning is a term that started in 2004 with the creation of the R7 driver, the first adjustable driver ever launched to the golfing public. This was a breakthrough and changed the traditional custom fitting process; a golfer would be measured and fit for a driver and the custom fitting session would end at the point of purchase. With adjustability products are now able to be tuned perpetually; adjustments can be made on an ongoing basis.

OPTIMIZING DRIVER FEATURES THE R' FAMILY LAUNCH PARAMETERS
FEATURE THE ART THE SCIENCE TUNING SUGGESTIONS
Model Look, feel (sound), trajectory, workability
Centre of Gravity, Launch Angle, Backspin Rate,
Ball Speed
Confirm the player is comfortable with the model’s look from address before tuning further. Changing models will significantly change the performance of a driver and may alter distance and consistent direction.
Face Angle Look at address - Confidence
Ball Start Direction, Trajectory, Shot Curvature
Utilize TaylorMade’s loft sleeve to achieve the player’s desired face angle. Remember, changing loft 1° also changes face angle 1°. Increasing loft closes the face, while lowering loft opens the face.
Loft Look at address - Confidence
Launch Angle, Backspin Rate, Trajectory,
Forgiveness, Workability
Once the appropriate driver loft is selected, utilize TaylorMade’s loft sleeve to tune the exact loft to that particular player. Should the player be more conscious of look at address you may require the sliding weight to tune consistent direction.
Centre of Gravity Confidence
Launch Angle, Backspin Rate, Trajectory,
Forgiveness, Workability
Utilize TaylorMade’s sliding weight track to tune the player’s desired centre of gravity. Move the weight towards the heel to increase draw bias and towards the toe to increase fade bias.
Lie Angle Look at address - Confidence Shot Shape (Slights Effect)
Utilize TaylorMade’s loft sleeve to fine tune lie angle. Players seeking a more toe up appearance from address will prefer the upright loft sleeve settings and for toe down they will prefer the flatter settings. The sleeve features nine standard lie angle settings and three upright settings.
Shaft (flex, weight, length)
Feel, Sound, Workability
Launch Angle, Backspin Rate,
Trajectory, Workability
Players seeking a stiffer, more boardy feel may prefer lower torque shafts, while players seeking a softer, more responsive feel may prefer a higher torque shaft. Some players see variations in launch conditions with different shafts, which is very dependant.
Grip (Size, Type) Feel N/A
The club must feel comfortable in the player’s hands. If available, allow the player to test different size and texture grips. The grip’s size and texture can effect the player’s overall feel.
The R15 franchise of drivers incorporates a low and forward centre of gravity producing an unparalleled reduction in spin rates. To unlock distance gains and optimise performance the fitter only needs to increase the loft of the driver and the back spin will remain low. Because of the CG Placement spin does not chase loft as fast as we are accustomed to. Normally as you increase loft, spin also increases at a rapid rate, but now low forward CG slows this process down. How much should you loft up? As high as you can until you see diminishing returns; where spin becomes too high.
It is essential to know that to optimise performance the vast majority of players will require more loft. Because spin is already very low the Tuner should seek to increase loft until reaching optimum launch and spin. Currently the average loft for TaylorMade drivers on the PGA Tour is 10.5. Many amateurs may require 11 or more degrees of loft.
R15 460 creates a new adjustable weight construction for drivers, providing much more ease of use than previous MWT systems. R15 460 features a very low and forward centre of gravity with 75% of the overall head weight located in the very front section of the clubhead and underneath the leading edge.
A high launch angle and low spin-rate maximises distance for all players. When we talk about launch parameters we’re referring to ranges, not specific numbers. The chart to the right lists ideal ranges according to ball speed.(The reason the range of ideal backspin bottoms out at 1700 RPM backspin is that’s where the ball begins to lose stability in the air).
There is a wider range of acceptable launch conditions at extremely fast swing speeds. As swing speed decreases, the ranges become smaller. However, when driver ball speed falls below 115 MPH, the player needs to combine the highest possible launch angle with the highest possible spin-rate to keep the ball in the air as long as possible to promote maximum carry.

FINE-TUNE THE SHAFTThe correct shaft helps the golfer find the centre of the clubface more consistently and has a profound effect on the overall feel of the club.

FLEXFinding the correct shaft flex is essential in helping the player find optimal consistent distance and direction. The chart below will help you get started.
APPLYING THE ART AND SCIENCEThe Art: Explain that the shafts weight, flex, torque, and bend profile can all drastically change the clubs feel. It is most important the golfer has a shaft that suits the players desired feel and personal preference.
The Science: The correctly tuned shaft will help maximise ball speed, spin rate and launch angle by producing shots that are struck solid.
