Originality & Creativity

Why was my site set up the way it is?
• Before setting up my ‘tumblr’ site, I had look at several other ‘tumblr’ blogs. I had come across some very simple themes and some very complicated themes.
• Some blogs needed me to click on certain things to see the content, or the navigation page, which was quite confusing, an example is the one of slide 3.
• But some were very simple, that I found their blog quite boring and was not interested to stay very long. An example is on slide 4.
This theme was so simple, that it did not
even have a menu page, or an about
page. So, from looking at other blogs, I had to
make sure my blog was simple yet not to
boring and easy to access.
Why did I choose the layout for my web page?
• The layout was simple and easy to access and use.
• The theme and colors that I changed made it eye catching and attractive.
• I did not use wix.com as my web page address, because my computer had a problem accessing wix, and it would not work, so I had to resign to using a site called ‘tumblr’.
Why did I choose the font that I chose?
• The font I chose was ‘arial’, and I chose this font because every is familiar with this font but not as familiar with it as e.g, Times New Roman, which could bore some people.
• I wanted to choose something different, like ‘courier new’ or ‘impact’ , but due to the lack of space and the limit on the size of writing; being too small would take effort to read and the font being too big would be a pain to read as well.
Why did I change the theme from the original?
• The theme I downloaded was very very simple, with no extra pages and no archives and ‘css’. I had to watch several tutorials in order to figure out how to add and change ‘html’s.
• This was the example of the theme before I had changed it. The captions would not show up on the photos, and the writing was so small, I had to strain to read it.
• I then changed the theme to add pages, which is in the advanced column and added a ‘about’ page and a ‘archive’ page. Also, I removed the profile photo that was viewed before.
• The before and after picture is on the next slide.
Why did I choose a certain image?
• The images that are on my blog, were mostly my photos, that I had taken over the course of the year and a few old photos as the festivals were not yet to come.
• I wanted to use my own photos, so I could be more original in my website. The photos were edited to become sharper and clearer, to attract the audience to keep going on my site.
• For example, the photo in the corner, was taken off the internet, but edited, so I would not have problems with copyrights.
